Title: Assistant Branch Manager I (ABM1)

Reports To: Branch Manager

Classification: Full-Time, Regular, Non-Exempt

Normal Hours: Commonly an 8-hour shift scheduled between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday–Saturday

General Description (Major Areas Of Responsibility)

The Assistant Branch Manager I (ABM1) serves as the second-in-command within the branch and plays a critical role in supporting daily operations, team leadership, and overall branch performance. This position acts as a direct extension of the Branch Manager, helping lead the team, drive productivity, and ensure operational excellence across all functions.

This individual is responsible for supervising and coordinating a team of employees, ensuring workflows are efficient, expectations are clear, and performance standards are consistently met. The ABM1 assists with employee training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management, while fostering a positive and accountable work environment.

Key responsibilities include overseeing daily branch operations such as order fulfillment, deliveries, inventory control, and administrative functions. This role requires strong organizational and scheduling skills to ensure proper staffing coverage and smooth day-to-day execution.

The ABM1 regularly interacts with customers and clients, helping to resolve issues, maintain strong relationships, and support business growth. This individual must be comfortable stepping in to manage the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager and making sound operational decisions when needed.

The ideal candidate demonstrates reliability, strong leadership ability, and a solid work history. They are hands-on, proactive, and eager to learn and grow within the organization, continuously seeking ways to improve processes and contribute to the success of the branch.

Minimum Qualifications

Formal Training (courses, degrees, and credentials required):

  • AA Degree or equivalent preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR (minimal to no safety concerns within the past 3 years)

Experience (type And Amount Of Experience Required)

  • Minimum 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience, including managing a team of at least 10 employees
  • Proven experience supporting daily operations, including scheduling, workflow management, and deliveries/logistics
  • Strong customer service experience, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and clients
  • Demonstrated ability to act as second-in-command or in a leadership support role
  • Solid and consistent work history (minimal job hopping)
  • Experience in warehouse, distribution, or retail operations preferred

Internal Candidates

  • Minimum 1 year working as a DD/WA/RS 2 for the Company, or
  • Minimum 6 months working as a MIT for the Company
