Digital Artist / Textile Printing
We are seeking a bright, capable digital artist to add to our growing artist production team. This person will be focused on development of digital fabric and wallpaper patterns. Additionally, this person will lead operation of our wide format digital wallpaper printers for pattern development and daily production runs. The ideal candidate is a digital artist who's highly competent in Photoshop, pre-press and working with digital image effects (e.g., texture layers) and who's motivated by constant innovation and improvement.
Job Description
Prepare digital files in Photoshop for wide-format printing
Make necessary color adjustments in RIP software to achieve desired color match in printed samples
Precisely match production samples to control samples
Leverage experience in CMYK and RGB to get to desired color matches quickly
Regularly run strike-offs on in-house printers for color matching
Create pattern repeats as needed for production layouts
Manipulate designs and create new pattern structures as needed
Employ advanced layering and filtering techniques to achieve different pattern effects/looks – proactively explore new techniques
Build spot libraries and standards in RIP software; calibrate using a spectrophotometer and lightbox
Research and communicate innovations in the color and textile industries
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Deep experience in color management and knowledge of color theory
Ability to match color by eye as well as through digital means
Experience in the printing industry and/or textile industry
Experience working with RIP software and wide-format printers
Works quickly and able to multi-task across multiple active projects
Ability to work in fast paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work within a team and open to learning from others
Excellent computer skills and ability to work efficiently in Adobe Photoshop
