As a Project Director, you will provide overall direction and leadership for your assigned work program across all phases of the project lifecycle. This role is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, team leadership, and stakeholder relationship management. You will also lead contracting strategy and comprehensive risk management efforts to meet or exceed all project goals and contractual expectations—all while supporting the broader vision, strategy, and values of JE Dunn.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
Provide overall leadership and strategic direction across multiple large or complex commercial construction projects.
Develop and execute full business and strategic plans aligned with JE Dunn's company objectives and Key Success Indicators (KSIs).
Assist senior leadership with corporate strategy development and implementation.
Safety & Compliance
Promote and lead a strong safety culture through personal actions and team mentorship.
Investigate safety incidents, enforce compliance, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary executive contact for clients, managing long-term relationships and cultivating new business opportunities.
Lead project-specific guidance based on broader client strategies.
Project Execution
Oversee all project lifecycle phases including preconstruction, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and performance analysis.
Lead internal and external teams in the development of estimates, contracts, schedules, and constructability reviews.
Team & Resource Management
Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained relative to schedules and project needs.
Lead, mentor, and develop project teams to achieve excellence in execution.
Risk & Financial Management
Identify, assess, and mitigate project, financial, and contractual risks.
Manage change orders, contingency use, and fee enhancements.
Ensure adherence to corporate risk management policies.
Subcontractor & Partner Relations
Build and maintain strategic relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
Oversee subcontractor selection and performance strategies.
Community & Industry Engagement
Represent JE Dunn in community and industry networks; serve on boards and act as a company ambassador.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field required.
Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience
15+ years of commercial construction management experience (Preferred).
5+ years in a people management role (Required).
Proven success in leading multiple large or complex projects or teams (Required).
