Posting Description
RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE 2, The Picower Institute for Learning and Memory , to join the Nedivi Lab which is investigating the contribution of different classes of interneurons to circuit development and their relative contribution to neuronal plasticity processes. While inhibitory synapses are essential to brain function and plasticity, surprisingly little is known about their molecular composition. The lab employs a unique multi‐photon microscopy approach for large volume, high-resolution imaging of dendritic arbor and synaptic structural dynamics in vivo paired with post hoc molecular analysis to identify synaptic proteins that are specifically associated with synapses in relation to their individual afferents, dendritic positioning, and dynamic and developmental history. This position would be ideal for someone who is graduate school bound.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED : A High school diploma or equivalent ; exposure to a research laboratory and ability to work with mice; interest in biology; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED : Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field, e.g., biochemistry, neuroscience, etc.; lab experience with some of the following methods--immunocytochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, biochemistry, or molecular biology; and experience with mouse handling and colony management and tissue culture; and programming skills.
