The job

We are seeking a transformational, execution‑focused leader to join AVEVA as Vice President of Strategic Programs & Operations within the Chief Technologist (CT) Organisation. This role is accountable for driving AVEVA’s technology strategy, leading culture‑of‑innovation programmes, and strengthening operational excellence across the CT organisation. You will act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, translating strategy into action while ensuring clarity, governance, and delivery in a fast‑paced, complex environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the operational cadence, governance, and execution framework of the Chief Technologist organisation.
  • Lead the development, approval, and ongoing evolution of AVEVA’s cross‑functional technology strategy.
  • Drive AVEVA’s Culture of Innovation programmes, including hackathons, World Innovation Day, and the Lead Tech Evangelist initiative.
  • Provide end‑to‑end oversight of CT initiatives, proactively identifying risks, resolving blockers, and ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Own and manage the dedicated CT budget, including strategic planning, allocation, tracking, and executive‑level reporting.
  • Act as the operational filter for the Chief Technologist organisation, ensuring only the most strategically relevant priorities, risks, and decisions are escalated to senior leadership.
  • Serve as the interface between the Chief Technologist organisation and internal stakeholders, building trusted relationships to enable alignment, pace, and delivery across functions.
  • Lead the development of executive-level communications, including briefings, decision papers, and strategic updates, ensuring clear visibility of priorities, risks, and progress.
  • Drive organisational effectiveness across the Chief Technologist organisation, identifying capability gaps, prioritising investments, and continuously improving operating models, governance, and delivery outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of programme leaders and project managers, building capability and fostering a high-performance, execution-focused culture.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ progressive experience in strategic operations, programme management, or related leadership roles, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Experience operating within or alongside a technology, CTO, or Chief Technologist organisation.
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience managing budgets and driving transparency through reporting and variance analysis.
  • Proven ability to influence cross‑functionally without direct authority, manage ambiguity, and lead through organisational change.
  • Experience partnering directly with C-suite or equivalent senior executives, supporting decision-making in complex, fast-paced environments.

Desired Skills

  • Strategic thinker with strong operational instincts and the ability to translate vision into executable roadmaps (Impact).
  • Curiosity and drive to continuously improve organisational effectiveness, governance, and innovation practices (Curiosity).
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to distil complex information into clear, executive‑ready insights (Trust).
  • Resilient, collaborative leader who balances long‑term priorities with near‑term execution demands (Aspiration).
