Behind the discussions on the competitiveness of the European automotive sector, the transition to electric vehicles, changing consumer preferences, and competition from China, there are people and jobs. With more than 6 million workers directly employed in the EU automotive sector, the scale of the transition is anything but negligible. Together with Alexander Hijzen, Andrea Hofer and Alina Winter, we have brought together a wide range of data to measure the scale of the challenge, not only for the headline-making vehicle manufacturers, but also for suppliers and related industries.
