Anthropic released an AI model with a breakthrough in cybersecurity. In recent weeks, it has already found vulnerabilities in the code of various software that had been in use around the world for 10-20 years, and no one knew they were there, not even hackers. Against this backdrop, all public cybersecurity companies have seen their value plummet by tens of percent. The commoditization of everything continues.

I found this a helpful, short review of the type of threat that models like Anthropic’s Mythos pose to cybersecurity. It’s not discovering new types of vulnerabilities, “just” finding them faster and allowing relatively inexperienced engineers to exploit them.

The past few weeks have brought apparently alarming news of Mythos, an AI that can identify cybersecurity flaws in a matter of moments, leaving operating systems and software vulnerable to hackers. The cybersecurity community is now beginning to get a better sense of how Mythos may change the face of cybersecurity – and not necessarily for the worse.

From weeks… to seconds. That’s what AI changes in Cyber Threat Intelligence. Most CTI programs still rely on delayed analysis, manual triage, and outdated reports. Meanwhile, attackers operate in real time. Brandefense processes millions of dark web signals daily, correlates them with your organization, and delivers actionable alerts before threats escalate. https://lnkd.in/eViFQeHy #CyberThreatIntelligence #ThreatIntelligence #CyberSecurity #CTI #Brandefense

OpenAI has given the U.S. government access to GPT-5.5 for national security testing, according to an executive. The model, specifically GPT-5.5 Cyber, is being rolled out in a controlled environment for vetted agencies, critical infrastructure operators and select researchers. It’s focused on cybersecurity tasks like vulnerability detection, threat analysis and incident response, rather than general consumer use. OpenAI said the restricted release is meant to limit misuse, since the same capabilities that can defend systems could also be used to exploit them. The company has not shared a timeline for broader access. - World Business News.
