Amcon Construction’s Post

Congratulations to Erik Peterson! The team at Amcon is extremely proud of Erik for being featured in the National Council of Architectural Registration Board’s (NCARB) Architect Spotlight blog! Erik’s 17-year alternate journey to licensure is highlighted, showcasing his perseverance, determination, and passion for architecture. The blog walks us through Erik’s journey, first finding his passion for architecture through around-the-house projects with his father and drafting classes in high school. Erik then received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota, but without an accredited degree, he had to search for an alternative path to licensure. He found a path through Arizona, and began testing, but his plans were stunted when 2008 hit and suddenly sustaining a job became more important than becoming licensed. Despite the uncertainty of the future, Erik continued to document his years of experience. Ultimately, in 2019, he started the alternate licensure process again and is now a registered architect in the state of Wisconsin. Erik’s story reminds us that the path to success is not always linear. With the unwavering support of his wife, Katie, and mentorship from his boss, Mark Huus, Erik’s dedication led to his role as the Director of Architectural Services at Amcon, where he currently leads a design team of 8. Erik has become a mentor himself, encouraging the next generation of designers at Amcon to pursue their dreams. Erik, we’re so proud of you and excited to see your projects to come!
