Modular blockchains separate execution, data availability, and settlement into independent infrastructure layers. Instead of a single chain performing every function, rollups such as Arbitrum or Optimism handle execution by processing transactions off the base chain. Data availability can be provided by layers like Ethereum blobspace or modular networks such as Celestia, ensuring transaction data is published and verifiable, while settlement typically occurs on base chains like Ethereum, where proofs are verified and state is finalized. Each layer can then optimize for its role: execution drives throughput, data availability manages bandwidth, and settlement secures the system. As rollup ecosystems expand, data availability becomes the primary scaling constraint, while settlement layers provide shared security across the system. Modularity is not simply a structural preference. It is a scaling strategy that separates responsibilities monolithic chains were forced to combine.

89% of teams have observability for their agents. Only 52% have evals. That gap is where production breaks happen. LangChain just published their State of Agent Engineering report. 32% of teams say quality is the top barrier to production agents. I think I know why. Observability is often just a dashboard you integrate with. Evals require you to define what correct means. Lots of teams skip that because it is genuinely hard. Here is what helps. 1. Define what "success"/"fail" look like for your Agent. 2. Write a few eval cases before you make a change. 3. Store them as JSONL so diffs show which cases changed. 4. Run them in CI so they block the merge if they regress. Within 12 months, teams without evals in CI will be where teams without unit tests were in 2015. Everyone will wonder how they shipped without them. What was the last prompt change you shipped without running evals? What broke?

Bringing teams on-chain shouldn’t feel this complicated. For many new teams and institutions, what holds them back from moving on-chain isn’t the security or infrastructure, it’s operational friction. Take multisig treasury management today. Most solutions are still chain specific. If you operate across multiple chains, you’re forced to: - Maintain separate multisigs - Manage different interfaces - Coordinate transactions across platforms This isn’t just inefficient, it increases the risk of human error and slows down operations. There are multichain solutions, but the experience still isn’t there. Users still need to: - Understand networks and chain differences - Manually switch between them - Create transactions per chain - Manage different gas tokens just to execute That’s not scalable for real teams. Web3 shouldn’t feel like this. In Web2, you don’t think about infrastructure layers, you just get things done. On-chain finance should be the same: - Multisend across chains - No switching networks - No fragmented workflows - No operational overhead Just one interface, one signature, one gas tokens, for multichain transactions. If every interoperability protocol defines its own cross-chain token “standard”… 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬? One interesting takeaway from a recent paper on cross-chain token designs is that many of the emerging approaches — xERC20, OFT, NTT, CCT, and SuperchainERC20 — aim to solve the same core problem: 𝐥𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝. Instead of relying on wrapped tokens and traditional bridges, these systems try to maintain a 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬, typically using burn-and-mint mechanisms and cross-chain messaging. But there’s an interesting tension. Most of these token "standards" are tightly coupled to a specific interoperability stack (LayerZero, Wormhole, Chainlink CCIP, OP Stack, etc.). In practice, token issuers choose one interoperability ecosystem and stick with it. Supporting multiple standards would mean deploying and coordinating separate token instances for each framework, adding significant complexity.
