CHANEL is pleased to support for the eighth year the Deauville American Film Festival, a major event in international cinema, in the city where CHANEL opened its first boutique in 1912. Ever since Gabrielle Chanel’s time spent in Hollywood, the House has always nurtured strong ties with American cinema. This open-to-all annual festival celebrates the diversity of American cinema, from Hollywood productions to independent films. This year, the Deauville American Film Festival is featuring a carte blanche programme curated by Catherine Deneuve who shares with the audience the American films that have inspired her. Through this support to the 52ⁿᵈ edition of the Deauville American Film Festival, the House reaffirms its commitment to making cinema accessible to a wide audience and celebrates the diversity and richness of filmmaking. There's an enduring grace in a house returning, year after year, to the exact city where it all began, rooted in a connection to American cinema that Gabrielle Chanel started herself.
Gabrielle Chanel's Hollywood era shaping this legacy so many years later: a beautiful full-circle moment.
An excellent and very real festival! Many haven’t heard as much about it because it truly happens, is well done and well run so nothing to report there, has a huge variety of film for every taste, the news went to a fake shooing of the flies, left one newsie here sleeping and as a festival has picked almost every category of the Oscars, Globes etc correctly every year which seems impossible lately but they are pretty accurate even in the unreleased and unshown films in the recent Netflix era! Once again it is beautiful and done with well scheduled, brilliance that the news may never find fault with but at least you will know! It beats showing up in Canne, where if they have ever heard of the festival they will tell you the name came from a theatre in Paris and they have never seen it on their television. They of course have French TV, a lot of animals and an occasional politician, hence the American Film Festival but it does include all French Actors whatever they were in! Oddly a Frenchman has won the Ambassador Award every year. I guess that one may be a rigged! Thank you Chanel for your patronage and support of the Arts everywhere!🌈🌎🪼and Lightfloats!
