Spotlight on Small Business #EconDevWeek Small businesses are the heartbeat of Middlesex County, and they're in good company. Entrepreneurs who start, relocate, and grow small to medium-sized enterprises make up the largest share of businesses in the Middlesex-London region. And the numbers back that up: small businesses make up 98.1% of all employer businesses in Canada and account for nearly half the Canadian workforce. In Ontario alone, there are over 407,000 small businesses, and Middlesex is a great place to be one of them. Lower taxes, lower operating costs, access to business incubators, start-up programs, and a tight-knit entrepreneurial community, it all adds up. Oh, and companies in southern Ontario can reach 158 million consumers within a single day's drive. Not bad for a county known for its fresh air and short commutes. 😄 Big ambitions.
