The 2026 Wilhelmshaven China Roadshow has successfully completed its first phase in April, with four events in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Qingdao. Shanghai marked a clear highlight, welcoming around 270 guests and high-level representatives, including Olaf Lies, Minister-President of Lower Saxony, and Dr. Norbert Riedel, German Consul General in Shanghai. The other three stops were also very well attended, each with around 150 participants, and saw strong engagement and open exchange with partners and industry stakeholders. The events were supported by local port groups, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening connectivity between China and Europe. Beyond the roadshow events, we carried out intensive customer visits. In addition to our close cooperation with shipping lines, we met with leading Chinese companies such as @CATL, Huawei, Midea and Hisense. These discussions helped us better understand cargo owners’ needs and further align our services at Wilhelmshaven. Against the backdrop of continuously increasing vessel sizes, Wilhelmshaven offers clear operational advantages as Germany’s only deep-water port with unrestricted tidal access, ensuring reliable vessel schedules and smooth hinterland connections. Recognition of Wilhelmshaven in the Chinese market continues to grow as spare capacity is still available also after a stunning volume increase of 74% in 2025.
