Hi, everyone. Scott Mattingly here with Floodgate Medical, joined by my colleague Danny Searing. We just wrapped up the 2026 American Academy of Neurology annual meeting in Chicago. It was an incredible week A and brought together neurologists, researchers and innovators from around the world. And the energy around where neurology is heading right now is very real. Yeah, it really was. And as we move through the sessions and the exhibit hall, 3 themes consistently stood out to us. Earlier detection and treatment verification, non pharma treatment options and portable EEG. And in each of those areas a few companies really separated themselves. Yeah, starting with early detection and treatment verification. This is where there's a real sense of urgency across conditions like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, epilepsy and Ms. The earlier you can identify disease and understand whether a treatment is working, the better the outcome. One company that stood out here was Vista Labs and their Sarah Graham platform. They've developed a technology that measures how the brain responds to stimulation, giving physicians a way to track disease and monitor treatment effectiveness. All in a noninvasive in office setting. Yeah, it was great meeting that team. Another was CND Life Sciences with their SIN One test. This is a skin based diagnostic that detects abnormal alpha synuclein, giving clinicians objective evidence when diagnosing Parkinson's and related disorders. It's already been used in 10s of thousands of patients and is drawing a ton of attention. Yeah, amazing what CD is doing. And Cortex AI. Continues to lead in AI powered imaging. Their Neuro Quant platform gives clinicians quantitative analysis of brain MRI scans in minutes, helping identify structural changes much earlier and more objectively. The second major theme was non pharma treatment options. Neuromodulation has been building for years, but this year it felt like it truly hit its stride with real adoption and strong clinical data. Yeah, lots of companies represented in this space. Electrocorp was a great example. Their handheld device delivers noninvasive vagus nerve stimulation for migraine and cluster headaches, and patients can use it themselves, which makes it extremely practical. In Cytec also stood out with their focused ultrasound platform. It allows physicians to treat trimmer without surgery, using MRI guidance to precisely target areas in the brain. For the right patients, the results can be immediate and life changing. Yeah, huge impacts for patients there. And Tyrannical's Nario Wearable is another strong example, a drug free migraine treatment that uses the body's own pain modulation pathways, all controlled through a smartphone. It's a great example of how patient friendly these therapies are becoming. Yeah. And the third theme and one that's really hitting an inflection point, is portable EEG. Brain monitoring is moving beyond traditional settings and becoming much more accessible. One company we have been watching is Epitol with their Remy system, a wireless EEG platform that can be set up in minutes and monitor patients for extended periods with AI helping flag potential seizure activity. Great group of folks. On that team and O already has a big footprint in this space with their wireless gel free EEG headsets. They just received a 510K for their new Wave product for outpatient EEG and launch their AI enabled reporting platform to streamline clinician workflow. When you take a step back, what stands out is that neurology is becoming faster, more objective and patient centered all at the same time. And that kind of progress requires great teams if you're growing in neurology. Or neurodiagnostics, Floodgate Medical would love to be part of that growth. This scoping review maps the use of #extendedreality (XR) in #nephrology and#dialysis across the past decade. Eighteen studies were identified, clustering into three domains: symptom management during hemodialysis, dialysis training and self-management, and education and procedural planning. Most studies were small and heterogeneous.
