We’re past the hype cycle. The real question now is: How do we make AI actually work for marketing? One of my favorite sessions at #NAMLS25 (Executive Platforms) and SocialMedia.org summit was led by Krishna (Kris) Narayanan, Chief Digital Officer at Verizon Business, who spoke about the real shift happening — from experimenting with AI to extracting value from it. Here are my top takeaways from his session 👇 🔹 The AI tide is rising, but value depends on integration, not hype. While many enterprise pilots haven’t yet impacted P&L, companies that embed AI into workflows (not just test it in isolation) are seeing real returns, especially in marketing, sales, and customer service. 🔹 Trust is evolving, from fear to reliance. Marketers are shifting from worrying about AI hallucinations to expecting trustworthy, provenance-backed content. “Human in the loop” (HITL) remains essential for confidence and accountability. 🔹 Workflow-driven AI is the next frontier. AI should live where work happens — in CRM, content tools, and customer touchpoints — not as standalone pilots. Embedding Copilots and AI agents in daily processes accelerates adoption and ROI. 🔹 Omnichannel is where value multiplies. Unifying marketing, sales, and service data unlocks hyper-personalized, seamless customer experiences. 🔹 Strong data foundations are non-negotiable. Unified, real-time data streams and open architectures make AI scalable, secure, and cost-efficient. Governance, ethics, and access policies must be built in from the start. 🔹 Evolve your team alongside your tech. AI isn’t just a technology shift. It’s a people shift. Upskill teams, encourage experimentation, and identify change champions who can guide adoption.
