Tennis players receive a percentage of tournament revenue, typically ranging from 13% to 22%, with Grand Slams paying around 13%–15% and higher-tier 1000 events paying closer to 22%. This is less than major team sports, where athletes often receive up to 50% of revenue. Is is comparable ?

Tennis generates no shortage of moments—launches, content plays, retail activations—but not all of them land. In this week’s Hard Court Index, I looked at three very different examples: — The ATP’s first owned retail store and the current limits of tennis merch — Why Tennis Channel’s “Confessional Cart” actually works in a space where most content doesn’t — Maria Sharapova’s masterful rollout of her next act https://lnkd.in/dRmmJ3cb

The original proposal, submitted by Pickleball Whistler founder Suzanne Johnston, calls on the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) to “consider upgrading a portion of under-utilized public tennis courts to permanent pickleball courts” as a cost-effective way to expand recreation access. #HausPickleball #Pickleball #Whistler | Lodestar Media https://lnkd.in/gfMwjTgN

French Open prize money row highlights need for deeper tennis reforms: PTPA The Professional Tennis Association said the French Open prize dispute shows why the way tennis is run is being questioned and warned that without structural reform, the sport will remain locked in repeated disputes and incremental changes. Leading players, including Aryna Sabalenkova, made the French Open organizers a larger share of revenue, with the tournament's €61.7 million ($72.32 million) in winnings still trailing the other three Grand Slams despite a 9.5% increase for 2026....

The business of tennis is booming but the people running it are not sharing the profits equally? Roland Garros, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments and the most prestigious clay court event in the world, generated €395 million in revenue in 2025 a staggering 14% increase year-on-year. By 2026, that number is projected to cross €400 million. Yet despite this explosive growth, players received just 14.3% of total revenue as prize money. That share has not grown with the tournament, it has actually declined, from 15.5% in 2024 to a projected 14.9% in 2026. (simple mathematics) To put that in perspective: ATP and WTA combined 1000 event tournaments far smaller in scale and prestige already give players close to 30% of revenues. Players are asking Grand Slams for just 22%. Roland Garros is still refusing to meet even that. 19 of the world's best Sinner, Sabalenka, Alcaraz, Gauff, Swiatek have now signed a joint statement threatening a boycott unless things change. Their demand is 22% share of revenue. The French Open begins May 24 and till now Roland Garros organisers have not responded. The players have been quiet for too long but now "That silence is over." #tennis #sports #grandslams

Today is a big one. One New Zealand Stadium opens its doors in Christchurch for the very first time and Super Rugby Pacific Super Round is the event that gets to christen it. A brand new multi-event venue, a sold-out weekend of rugby, and a city that's been waiting a long time for this. Proud day for everyone at PAM. We've partnered with Venues Ōtautahi to power the smart maps and wayfinding for the stadium, the same platform running at venues like Allegiant Stadium, Miami Open and Hard Rock Stadium and Tennessee Titans now live in Aotearoa. What goes live today: - City-to-seat navigation with live travel times and directions - Routing through the right gate, straight to your section - Accessible route filters so every fan can move through the precinct with ease - Event-mode maps that adapt for rugby this weekend, a concert next month, a conference after that Huge credit to Shaun Eade and Todd Schmidt and the Venues Ōtautahi team for setting a genuinely high bar on fan experience, and to the PAM crew who've been heads-down making this happen for months. If you're heading along this weekend, the maps are live now on the One NZ Stadium website. Lastly, let's hope the Reds get a win on their run home to the finals!

Tennis row over prize money Top tennis players are increasing pressure on Grand Slam organisers over prize money, arguing that current payouts - including at the upcoming French Open - lag behind the growth in earnings at the sport's biggest competitions. Players are pushing for a 22% share of tournament revenues, in line with some top tour events, but still far below what athletes receive in US sports leagues through collective bargaining agreements. Aryna Sabalenka said players may eventually need to boycott tournaments to force change, while Jannik Sinner called for showing "respect" to players. Novak Djokovic also pledged his support.
