World Health Organization, @UNICEF, and @Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance — the current measles crisis in Bangladesh is a wake-up call that goes beyond immediate vaccination gaps. It is a fundamental infrastructure challenge. The shift we are advocating for is not just about 'more vaccines,' but about building a Resilient Health System that leverages Civic-Tech for: Real-time Digital Surveillance (Moving away from analog reporting). IoT-enabled Cold Chain Monitoring to ensure potency. Decentralized Governance for faster local response. Global partners must prioritize Systemic Medical Overhaul over temporary 'catch-up campaigns' to ensure long-term sustainability independent of political cycles. We need to invest in the 'machine,' not just the fuel. #HealthSystemsStrengthening #GlobalHealth #DigitalHealth #WHO #VaccineEquity"

Thank you, World Health Organization, for creating spaces like this that promote transparency, global collaboration, and access to updated scientific information. As a Pediatrician based in Spain, I deeply appreciate the continuous efforts to inform healthcare professionals and the public about emerging infectious diseases and global health challenges such as hantavirus. Grateful for the work of Dr. Tedros and all the teams involved in strengthening international public health awareness and education. 🌍🩺

The real challenge lies in maintaining a balance between: * rigorous surveillance, * early containment, * and avoiding disproportionate public alarm. The Andes hantavirus does not appear to have pandemic potential comparable to SARS-CoV-2; however, the COVID-19 experience has profoundly changed public perception of infectious disease risk. From a strategic perspective, this situation is functioning as a “test” of how global healthcare systems respond today to an emerging international outbreak.
Public health surveillance, early detection, and international collaboration remain essential in the response to emerging infectious diseases such as hantavirus. Clear communication and evidence-based information help strengthen preparedness while avoiding unnecessary alarm, reinforcing the importance of global cooperation in protecting public health.
