Bankruptcy of airport hotel Amsterdam

My Airport Hotel in Hoofddorp (NL) should convert the former Chinese restaurant Golden Tower into an airport hotelrestaurant for transfers. Unfortunately before the hotel could open its door for the guests the developers have applied for the bankruptcy.

Althought the hotels in Amsterdam have seen a rapid recovery from the covid pandemic this year, the room rate and occupancy still lag behind compared to other tourism hotspot like London and Paris.

Within the metropolitan area of Amsterdam the hotels around the airport Schiphol still facing tough times. The irregular departures and arrivals have not brought the hotels a stable occupacy.

In the meantime the political debats about the limitations of maximum amount of flights at Schiphol and severe shorstage of staff have downgraded Schiphol from the best international airport in Europe to a chaotic hub of congestions.

In contrast to these difficult times for the hotel operators the hotel developers unwearying continues with the developments of new hotels. Ca 10 large new hotels and extensions are still to be added to this saturated market.
