Proud to be a reviewer for the Thoughtworks SDV Pulse Guide Vol. 2! The automotive industry is at a pivotal moment: open source is moving from passive adoption to active creation, and I’m excited to see this shift reflected in the latest SDV Pulse Guide by Thoughtworks. Historically, open source in automotive meant adapting generic community software—like Linux kernels. Today, we’re seeing the emergence of safety-compliant open source operating systems that are redefining what’s possible for compliance, long-term maintainability, and innovation in our field. But the real game-changer? Initiatives like Eclipse Software Defined Vehicle S-CORE. For the first time, the industry is collaborating from day one on open source platforms engineered for in-vehicle safety and seamless integration. This marks a huge leap toward a mature, sustainable ecosystem. At ETAS, we believe open source is essential for accelerating innovation and enabling scalable solutions for future mobility. Yet, we must tackle challenges head-on: maintaining focus (do one thing well!), fostering active communities among a niche developer base, and ensuring all software meets strict automotive standards. 📖 Read the full report here: Thoughtworks SDV Pulse Guide Vol. 2 (PDF): https://lnkd.in/dYUspsFs Big thanks to Thoughtworks for spotlighting these trends—and to all the contributors who are shaping the future of automotive open source. #SDVPulse #OpenSource #SDV #ETAS #Innovation #EclipseSCORE
