NEW! NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials Safety Officer class MAY 14-15 is open for registration. Learn how to analyze the incident by determining the magnitude of the event in terms of safety; recognize exclusionary condition for the Hot Zone; plan a response while identifying the safety precautions for potential tactics; review Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) selection, decontamination strategies, and medical procedures on site and prepare a Site safety and control plan. Participants who successfully complete the course and pass the required certification exam and skill test will receive a National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (ProBoard) certification.

Over the weekend, 40 first responders from 16 departments participated in the ExxonMobil Pipeline Company-sponsored HazMat Liquid & CO₂ Pipeline and Industrial Fire Emergencies training. Held at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service - TEEX Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station, Texas, first responders experienced advanced, hands-on and companion classroom simulations, including a CO₂ pipeline incident response. Rob Tracy, Russell Brandon, Ryan Singh, Cody Todd, P.E., Brian Huey and Michael Butler along with several others attended on behalf of ExxonMobil. The Guyana Civil Defense Commission, Guyana Fire Service, Enbridge and ConocoPhillips also attended. PDC #6 | Incident Management for Industrial On-Scene Commanders Workshop (IMS 665) - This scenario-based, simulation-supported, workshop is intended to introduce participants to the leadership strategies and tactics needed in the initial incident response to an industrial incident in a Semiconductor CHIP Manufacturing Facility. In addition, this workshop examines how to successfully implement those strategies and tactics at the Emergency Response Team Leader level. The workshop activities place emphasis on a higher level of tactical decision-making necessary to operate safely, effectively, and efficiently with available resources. This workshop focuses on the application of the RECEOS model and includes simulation-supported activities that provide participants with the opportunity to develop and hone decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
