Venture capital in 2025 is doubling down on fundamentals: agri-inputs, precision farming, and rural fintech. Globally, agtech secured $1.6B across 137 deals in Q1 2025. That’s a slight dip in value (3.7%) and deal count (24.7%) vs Q4 2024 but the median deal size rose to $4.4M from $3.2M, and pre-money valuations jumped from $15.1M to $20M. It’s no longer about spray-and-pray. It’s a flight to quality. India’s resilience stands out. Between FY22 and FY25, $2.6B was deployed across 340 agtech deals, with an average size of $7M. And 70% of this capital flowed into B2B/B2C market linkage platforms, businesses that directly connect farmers with markets, removing inefficiencies and middlemen. Agri-inputs is one area attracting real attention. Traditional supply chains were fragmented and opaque. Today, startups are building digital-first input platforms that offer AI-led crop recommendations, connect farmers directly to manufacturers, and integrate with broader farm management tools. This not only improves access and affordability but also paves the way for precision farming convergence. Speaking of which, precision farming is booming. The global market is valued at $8.4B in 2025, projected to reach $36.9B by 2034, growing at a CAGR of 17.9%. The tech stack: IoT, GPS, AI, 5G, and predictive analytics is now mature. Whether it’s AI-driven crop health monitoring, smart irrigation, or agricultural drones (a market set to touch $10.45B by 2030), the ROI for farmers is becoming hard to ignore. Then comes the quiet disruptor: rural fintech. In Q1 2025 alone, Indian fintech raised $461M, with lending making up 30% of total inflows. But what’s really interesting is how alternative credit scoring is unlocking financing for underserved agri communities. Platforms are using farm output data and transaction histories, bypassing traditional collateral models. Combine that with UPI penetration in villages and emerging blockchain-based agri-finance models, and rural fintech suddenly looks like one of the most bankable bets. And the timing couldn’t be better. Investors are under increasing pressure to align with ESG and climate-smart agriculture. From ESG-linked loans verified by satellite to sustainability tokens on blockchain, capital is finally syncing with purpose. Even multilaterals and governments are stepping in. ₹500 Cr has been requested by agri-fintech players to scale inclusion-focused rural services. This isn’t just a wave, it’s a reset. One where investor interest is no longer driven by novelty, but by hard metrics: profitability, scalability, and impact. The intersection of tech, data, and financial inclusion is where the future of farming is being built. If you’re building something in this space or investing in it, this is your moment.

I saw more than 60 #cybersecurity startups this year. This is the feature that made me sit up more than anything else I saw in 2025: Not detection, not alerting, not a dark mode dashboard. It was voice-enabled rule design. This was an identity solution explicitly designed for mid-market organizations (read: small security teams). Like most SaaS products, it featured no-code workflow design. But instead of having to drag and drop elements or build logic, during the demo the founder just clicked on a 🎙️ icon and spoke at a pretty quick pace: "This user needs access to Google Workspace, Salesforce, and admin access to Slack..." and on and on. The LM didn't transcribe, it took about 15 seconds and the entire set of provisioning rules appeared on the screen. This design showed: - deep understanding of their ICP's pains in small teams being asked to do a lot - intention to alleviate daily operational pain by reducing clicks, aka help security teams do their jobs better and more efficiently - chaining together #AI capabilities (voice recognition to code dev) to augment human labor It wasn't "cool" with a "K." This is a feature that could save small teams HOURS of cumulative drudgery over the course of a year. It demonstrated NEW thinking to solve old problems. My greatest hope since the release of the Whisper API in 2022 has been innovation in human-software interfaces. Why are we still typing all the time?! In any case, I'm excited to see more innovation in 2026!

2025 was the year SpaceTech startups in India really took flight Digantara raised $50M Series B in Dec 2025, Pixxel beat incumbents to win the ₹1200 crore EO-PPP, Govt launched the ₹1600 crore Antariksh Venture Capital Fund & much more India’s $10bn+ SpaceTech opportunity is visible in plain sight - there is progress on Policy, Product & Procurement. Here is a recap of the year gone by⤵️ 1️⃣ SpaceTech startups delivered on milestones despite being on shoestring budgets (a) Jan 2, 2025 - Bellatrix Aerospace - RUDRA green propulsion demo on POEM-4 successful (b) Jan 14, 2025 - Pixxel - First 3 Firefly hyperspectral satellites launched (Transporter-12) (c) Jan 14, 2025 - Digantara - First space-based SSA satellite launched (same rideshare) (d) May 21, 2025 - Skyroot Aerospace - Stage-separation test (Vikram-1) successful (e) Jun 11, 2025 - Skyroot Aerospace - Payload fairing separation test successful (f) Aug 8, 2025 - Skyroot Aerospace - Stage-1 static fire (KALAM-1200 motor) successful (g) Aug 26, 2025 - Pixxel - Second Firefly batch launched, completing phase-1 2️⃣ Funding shifted from small Seed cheques to large institutional rounds: (a) April ‘24: Dhruva Space (SmallSat platform) - $15M Series A (b) Dec '24: Pixxel (Earth Observation stack) - $24M Series B extension (c) May '25: InspeCity (satellite life extension) - $5.6M Seed (d) Sep '25: SpaceFields (propulsion)- $4.5M pre-Series A (e) Dec '25: Digantara (space situational awareness stack) - $50M Series B And, we have all heard rumors of a $55M Series C at Pixxel! Therefore, Digantara, Pixxel & Skyroot Aerspace would be the 3 Indian SpaceTech companies which have raised > $50M in a single funding round! 🏆 India’s RTP in space lies in our ability to provide globally optimal Tech at an affordable price: In 2017, ISRO’s PSLV-C37 carried 101 foreign satellites - less than a year later, the Cabinet cleared funding for 30 more PSLV launches. My grandfather reminded me of 21st November 1963 - ISRO’s first ever launch, India’s 1st ever rocket launch. India’s first rocket was transported on a bicycle through the sandy lanes of Thumba, near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala - St. Mary Magdalene Church served as the launch command station. The world didn’t notice this at all but every major milestone since (e.g. Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan etc) has been closely tracked by the West. His words were: “We’re always late & therefore written off - but when we apply our mind+people++capital with conviction, we catch up & then shock everyone” #startups #india

What LinkedIn’s 2025 Top Startups List Reveals About the Future of Building - Every year, LinkedIn’s Top 50 Startups in the U.S. is a snapshot of how the entrepreneurial landscape is shifting and this year’s list paints a fascinating picture of where innovation is heading. 1️⃣ The obvious trend: AI, everywhere. From Perplexity and Fireworks AI to Harvey and Together AI, nearly half the list is powered by artificial intelligence. These companies aren’t just building “AI tools”, they’re embedding intelligence into workflows: healthcare, law, hiring, education, and cybersecurity. The new playbook is AI as an infrastructure layer rather than an industry. 2️⃣ The overlooked trend: traditional categories reimagined. GOODLES mac & cheese, David protein bars, ARMRA colostrum, and RYZE mushroom coffee, all proof that physical products can still scale fast with strong storytelling, influencer-led distribution, and digital-first branding. You don’t need deep tech to be disruptive, you need differentiation and community. 3️⃣ Health is the new frontier. Healthcare startups make up a surprising chunk of the list, from remote patient monitoring (Cadence) to virtual behavioral care (Charlie Health, Grow Therapy) to women’s health (Midi Health). The next wave of healthcare innovation seems less about new medicine and more about access, experience, and integration. 4️⃣ Youth and velocity. Most companies here are under five years old, meaning the pace from founding to national relevance is faster than ever. AI and modular infrastructure (like Synctera’s “banking-as-a-service”) are drastically reducing the time to build, scale, and distribute. 5️⃣ What founders can learn: The barriers to entry have never been lower, but the bar for differentiation has never been higher. Community and trust are becoming as important as code. Great startups blend speed with credibility, many founders here are second-timers or ex-leaders from major tech firms. Even “non-AI” startups are succeeding by mastering digital operations and niche storytelling. In short, 2025’s hottest startups show that technology may drive efficiency, but authenticity drives growth. #LinkedInTopStartups
