New research prototype for Personal Health Agent (PHA), a comprehensive research framework for delivering personalized, evidence-based health and wellness guidance. This system is built on a multi-agent framework that models support after a human expert team, each handled by a specialized LLM sub-agent: ▶️ Data Science Agent: Analyzes multi-modal data from wearables and health records, such as blood biomarkers, to provide contextualized numerical insights. ▶️ Domain Expert Agent: Acts as a reliable source of grounded health knowledge, tailoring information based on the user's specific health profile. ▶️ Health Coach Agent: Supports users in goal-setting and behavioral change through multi-turn, psychologically-inspired conversations. The Orchestrator dynamically coordinates these specialists to synthesize a single, coherent response to complex queries. Evaluations confirmed that this collaborative multi-agent approach significantly outperformed single-agent baselines in overall response quality, clinical significance, effectiveness and usefulness as evaluated by human experts and end-users. This work, including extensive evaluation of all agentic components using the Wearables for Metabolic Health (WEAR-ME) study data, establishes a validated blueprint for the next generation of trustworthy and coherent personal health AI. 🧠 The End of Hyper-Invasive Brain Implants Imagine a brain-computer interface (BCI) so thin it’s one-fifth the thickness of a human eyelash — yet capable of capturing the most detailed view of human thought ever recorded. That’s the Layer 7 Cortical Interface from Precision Neuroscience: 📏 Ultra-thin & flexible: A transparent film embedded with 1,024 electrodes. ⚡ Surface mapping: Records and stimulates neural activity without penetrating brain tissue. 🎯 Targeted placement: Rests on the motor cortex, the brain region that translates thought into action. 🧩 Modular design: Multiple arrays can be linked to cover more brain regions. Unlike Neuralink’s penetrating micro-electrodes or other invasive implants, Precision’s approach is designed to be safer, replaceable, and minimally invasive — inserted via a <1 mm “cranial microslit” rather than a full craniotomy. 📊 Each device can record 1–2 billion neural data points per minute, which are processed in real time and decoded using AI. These signals can become computer commands, allowing patients with paralysis to interact with the world using thought alone. In clinical studies, the Layer 7 interface has already mapped speech and movement intention in volunteers, laying the groundwork for applications in: Restoring independence to people with paralysis - Aiding stroke recovery - Assisting neurosurgeons during operations - Potentially treating psychiatric conditions like depression As Precision puts it: “The world’s highest resolution picture of human thought.” With this non-penetrative, high-resolution approach, BCIs might soon transition from experimental devices to everyday clinical tools — safely bridging the gap between mind and machine. #BCI #DBS #Neurosurgery

A 65 year old just became the first person to control an iPad using brain signals alone. Mark Jackson was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in 2021. Over time, he developed complete paralysis in both arms and weakness in his neck. No way to swipe a phone. No way to send a text. No way to do things for himself without asking someone else. Until a brain-computer interface by Synchron changed that. Here's how it works: ▶ 1. Device sits inside a brain vein ↳ A small sensor is implanted into one of the veins within Mark's brain through a minimally invasive procedure - not brain surgery. ↳ It reads brain signals from the motor cortex and translates them into digital actions on screen. ↳ Mark now watches Netflix, listens to audiobooks, browses Instagram and Facebook, and texts his kids. All by thinking about the action he wants to take. ▶ 2. Two-way communication creates real-time feedback ↳ Synchron just launched a new version using something called a BCI HID profile - Human Interface Device. ↳ The computer detects the strength and fidelity of Mark's brain signal in real time and presents feedback about where he's looking, what he's thinking about clicking, where he wants to move. For someone who can't move their arms, losing the ability to do things independently is one of the hardest parts of the disease. This technology gives that back. However, the tech is still early. Synchron has completed early feasibility trials and is preparing for pivotal trials before seeking FDA approval - a process that will take several years. But would you trust a brain implant if it gave you back your independence? #entrepreneurship #healthtech #innovation

Quick commerce might create new rails for fashion in India. But AI is about to rewrite the stack. It won’t just improve margins or automate workflows. It will reshape how demand is created, what gets made, and how we buy. Here’s my prediction: 1. Search becomes intent-led Nobody wants to scroll through 400 SKUs. AI will learn your taste, body, budget, event, and mood, and surface five things that just work. Think: Spotify-style discovery, but for clothes. Discovery becomes contextual, not chaotic. We’re already seeing this in early interfaces like Perplexity’s shopping copilots. 2. Assortments get micro-targeted Massive catalogs are a liability. AI lets brands adapt SKUs dynamically, by user, region, season, even returns history. Shein scaled fast fashion through supply speed, but never cracked fit. Newme is flipping the model by doing weekly drops of 10–15 SKUs based on real-time feedback As merchandising behaves like content, inventory becomes a live system. 3. Returns are engineered out Returns were the biggest margin killer. Now they’re a solvable product problem through predictive sizing + fit-tech + try-at-home delivery. Zalando and H&M are already running fit-tech integrations + virtual try-ons at scale. Fit-tech will become table stakes. 4. Supply chains go real-time From design to drop to replenish to clear. AI enables live demand forecasting, smarter markdowns and faster reaction cycles. Urbanic, Zara, and Myntra are tightening feedback loops using browsing + returns + trend signals Fashion will respond to signals, not seasons and less dead stock will lead to better margins. 5. Shopping shifts from search to recommendation Shopping will shift from browsing to context-driven nudges. AI copilots will shop with you, not for you. Voice-first agents are already live. AI doesn’t just improve conversion: it changes the loop. The next generation of fashion brands will scale through personalization, fit precision, intelligent curation, and habit-forming UX Fashion will live at the intersection of fast-moving infrastructure and intelligent systems. This wont change how we buy. It will change what gets made.

Last week, we explored how robots might move, feel, and understand like humans. Now, we flip the lens and tap into one of the most exciting frontiers in human augmentation: Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs). BCIs connect the brain directly to machines, translating neural activity into signals that control computers, devices, or even AI agents. With the rise of Agentic AI, a new possibility is emerging: What if your intentions could become instructions, from brainwaves to prompts, directing AI with intent alone? The most intuitive interface isn’t voice; it’s thought. A Thought-to-Agent Interface (T2A) links your brain activity to an AI Agent in real time, translating mental focus, intention, or emotional state into prompts, actions, or decisions. These are some use-case examples... 🧠 In Work: You're in deep focus. You imagine a slide, your AI Agent starts drafting it. You think of a person; it pulls up your last conversation. 🧠 In Accessibility: For someone unable to speak or type, the interface interprets intent from brain signals and helps control devices, compose messages, or navigate systems. 🧠 In Creativity: A designer imagines a shape, a scene, or a melody, and the AI Agent renders variations in real time, refining the output through guided intent. These are some current research projects... 📚 Meta AI’s Brain-to-Text Decoding: Decodes full sentences from non-invasive brain activity with up to 80% character accuracy, bridging neural intent to digital language. https://lnkd.in/gTEJpa4e 📚 UC Berkeley’s Brain-to-Voice Neuroprosthesis: Translates brain signals into audible speech, restoring naturalistic communication for people with speech loss. https://lnkd.in/g_D3Xeup 📚 Caltech’s Mind-to-Text Interface: Achieves 79% accuracy in translating imagined internal speech into real-time text, enabling seamless brain-to-device communication. https://lnkd.in/gEuVKreq These are some startups to watch... 🚀 Neurable: EEG-based wearables decoding cognitive load & focus in real-time. https://www.neurable.com/ 🚀 OpenBCI: Makers of Galea, a headset combining EEG, EMG, eye tracking, and skin conductance for immersive neural interfacing. https://lnkd.in/girt4PAW 🚀 Cognixion: Brain-powered communication integrated with AR and speech synthesis for non-verbal users. https://www.cognixion.com/ 🚀 Paradromics: High-bandwidth BCI for translating neural activity into speech or system commands for those with severe impairments. https://lnkd.in/giepGKH4 What is a likely time horizon... 1–2 years: Wearable EEG interfaces paired with AI for narrow tasks: adaptive UI, hands-free control, attention-based interaction. 3–5 years: Thought-to-agent pipelines for work, accessibility, and creative tools, personalized to individual brain patterns and cognitive signatures. The future isn’t just AI that understands your prompts. It’s AI that understands you as soon as you think. Next up: Multimodal AI Sensory Fusion (“Glass Whisperer”)

There’s a new trend among Creative tech startups. I call it the “rise of the Creative SaaS” (Software as a Service). 👋🏾 Goodbye, clunky streaming services, deserted fashion ecommerce sites and gig listing platforms with 12 users. Smart Createch founders across Africa have now caught on that what the industry truly needs is operating systems that standardize workflows, production, payments, logistics and data analytics. ANKA (acquired by Global Shop Group), which transitioned from marketplace to SaaS solution for fashion, crafts and other small entrepreneurs, is the OG of this trend. Some would call SaaS companies unsexy, but not me. Because I like businesses that make sense. Here’s just a few examples of companies building the much-needed rails for Africa’s creative class: 🎬 Filmmakers Mart is a production OS for crews, locations, permits, payroll and set logistics. 🤳🏿 Selar provides a full stack enabling creators to sell courses, memberships, tickets and digital goods, with fast local/FX payouts. 🎧 Makerverse handles rights, splits, distribution, analytics and cross-border payments for independent music labels, aggregators and communities. 👗 Stylebitt is an OS for fashion businesses and independent tailors, digitizing orders, measurements, costing and fulfillment. 🎤 HustleSasa provides ticketing, logistics and cash advance solutions for live events. 🌐 The Folklore helps emerging fashion and beauty brands manage wholesale, dropship, and international shipping so they can sell globally. 🎞️ Fusion Intelligence Technologies (MTN'25) develops cinema software that includes ticketing, box office reporting, as well as community-cinema infrastructure. 💅🏾 Splice helps beauty salons manage bookings, payments, staff, loyalty programs and inventory. All these companies are targeting fragmented supply chains in dire need of standardized tools and user-friendly tech to replace Google spreadsheets or even written records. This may just be the meet-cute moment between creative and tech that we’ve been waiting for. Are you using any of these solutions? What are some other creative sector inefficiencies that haven't been addressed? (let's see if those could be turned into software). ------- Hi, my name is Marie 👋🏽 I’ve been a strategic advisor, investor, and entrepreneur in the African Creative and Sports space for 20 years. Every industry eventually learns the same lesson: Transactions record history. Behavior reveals truth. In banking, transaction history doesn’t prevent fraud - behavioral patterns do. How money moves, what deviates, how usage evolves. In aerospace, the "Digital Twin" wasn't built to study design, it was built to study operation. The gap between “as designed” and “as flown” is where performance truth emerges. Fashion is now confronting this same inflection point. For a decade, the industry optimized for the checkout. It scaled e-commerce, refined CRM, and mastered performance marketing. It built extraordinary supply chains and powerful storytelling engines. But the consumer journey has become more complex, and control over the customer relationship has shifted. According to Coresight Research, 70% of consumer behavior data lives outside direct brand ownership. Discovery happens on one platform. Purchase may happen on another. Marketplaces observe cross-brand patterns. Social platforms shape influence. Resale captures the second life. Insight has become highly fragmented. When data fragments, control fragments. Customer acquisition costs are rising. Retention feels less predictable. Price increases are meeting resistance. Brands are leaning more heavily on concentrated high-value customers while aspirational segments behave differently than they did even a few years ago. In a market where products can be copied, pricing can be matched, and marketing replicated, the only advantage that compounds is an intimate understanding of behavior. Financial services, media, and aerospace all made the leap from transaction records to behavioral infrastructure. Fashion is at the threshold of that same transition. The future of fashion won’t be decided at the checkout. It will be decided by who understands behavior. #Business #FashionTech #Retail #DataStrategy #DigitalTransformation

Very cool. This doctoral thesis on cyborg psychology by Pat Pataranutaporn of MIT Media Lab is jam-packed with specific projects that used AI to support human flourishing, including methodologies and results. Just a few of many fascinating experiments include: 🧠 Wearable Reasoner: Enhancing Rationality Through AI The Wearable Reasoner is a proof-of-concept wearable AI system designed to support human rationality by analyzing verbal arguments for evidence. It uses an argumentation mining algorithm to classify whether statements are supported by evidence and provides real-time explainable feedback to the user via an audio-based interface. The device employs techniques such as explainable AI to ensure users can understand the reasoning behind classifications. Experiments demonstrated its effectiveness in helping users distinguish evidence-supported claims from unsupported ones, fostering critical thinking and improved decision-making. 🎙️ Wearable Wisdom: Context-Aware Advice Delivery Wearable Wisdom is an intelligent, audio-based system that delivers wisdom from mentors or personal heroes based on the user's context and inquiries. Using semantic analysis and context-aware sensing, the system pairs user questions with the most relevant quotes from a database of mentor wisdom. This interaction is provided through audio-augmented reality glasses. Applications include on-demand multi-perspective advice, proactive motivation for behavioral change, and reconnecting users with cultural heritage. User studies highlighted its superior ability to inspire and deliver relevant advice compared to traditional methods. 🔮 Future You: AI-Powered Future Self-Dialogue The Future You platform enables users to engage with a virtual version of their future selves, supported by a large language model and age-progression technology. Users provide personal and goal-oriented data, which is used to simulate a relatable future self, complete with a backstory and visual representation. This intervention was shown to increase future self-continuity (a sense of connection to one's future self), reduce anxiety, and encourage reflective thinking about life goals. 📚 AI-Generated Characters for Learning and Wellbeing AI-generated characters, such as virtual instructors or digital portrayals of historical figures, were developed to enhance engagement in education. These characters provide personalized interactions and foster motivation, positive emotions, and learning outcomes. For example, "Living Memories" allows users to interact with AI-generated historical personas to explore the past and learn interactively. There is so much potential for well-design AI to support human flourishing, if that is our intent.

Pinterest just changed the fashion search game—are you ready for it? Most fashion brands haven’t caught this yet: Pinterest quietly launched a new visual language model powered by AI. This isn't just "find similar styles." It's understanding what makes a look appealing—and serving that back to shoppers. 🔍 Tap a fashion Pin and you’ll now see descriptors like: “90s silhouette,” “soft texture,” or “elevated casual.” Pinterest is literally telling us why people are drawn to certain pieces. Here’s what that means: 🧠 For consumers They no longer need perfect keywords. They search by vibe. If something feels Y2K, they’ll find it. If it’s “business casual with edge,” that’s now a searchable aesthetic. 📉 For brands AI is surfacing style gaps in your collection in real time. Someone can ask for “a dress like this, but more formal” or “same blazer, but dopamine colors”—and immediately see if you offer it… or not. And with long-press search on the Home Feed, your product can be discovered without anyone visiting your profile. ✅ So what should your brand do? Audit your product photography—are your silhouettes and styles visually distinct? Update your Pinterest strategy—optimize for how AI sees your aesthetic. Track which style terms Pinterest links to your best items—those are your real selling points. This isn’t just a new feature. It’s a new era in how people discover fashion. 🎯 Want to stay ahead of how AI is reshaping ecommerce?
