Sengischorr Mountain, Lovozersky District, Murmansk Oblast, Russia

Dimensions: 4.5 cm x 4 cm x 3 cm

Golden-brown "suns" of Lamprophyllite in syenit-pegmatite matrix. Such morphology is very untypical for Lamprophyllite from Kola peninsula, which usually form tabular plates in alkaline rocks and pegmatites of the region. Sun-like aggregates from here usually consist of astrophyllite. Sengischorr Mount is the single locality of Kola which is famous with its Lamprophyllite suns since Fersman's times. Associating minerals in the specimen are brownish-red Eudialyte, dark-green Aegirine and very minor feldspar. Specimen size is 4.5x4x3 cm. Collected by Viktor Grishin. Pavel M. Kartashov collection and photo.
