Dimensions: 110 mm x 60 mm x 60 mm

A polished specimen of bloodstone that resides in the reference collection of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and is normally not on public display. The NHMLA reference collection contained multiple specimens of euhedral quartz crystals and various varieties of chalcedony attributed to Soledad Canyon in Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County, California. I was shown this piece in 2019 by Aaron Celestian PhD, who is the curator of mineral sciences at NHMLA. Dimensions were obtained from NHMLA's mineral sciences collection online database.
