Cryolite Mine, St Peters Dome, Cheyenne Mining District, El Paso County, Colorado, USA

SEM image of secondary alumofluorides from specimen on Photo ID: 329555. Crystalline crust of brighter in BSE Calcjarlite grow over large tabular Thomsenolite crystal (more darker in BSE). Most dark isometric crystals in the upper left corner of the picture are Ralstonite. Calcjarlite is completely Sr-free and has composition Na2.00(Ca7.53Na5.76â—»0.71)14.00Mg2.25Al12.00(F55.29(OH)8.03H2O0.68)64.00. Note perfect cleavage of Thomsenolite under Calcjarlite crust at the lower right corner of the crystal. Collected by Dean Allum in 2008 (author number 65-2-1). Pavel M. Kartashov analytical identification, collection and photo.
