KXU-GWNRhodonite CaMn3Mn[Si5O15]
San MartĂn Mine, Chiurucu, Huallanca District, Bolognesi Province, Ancash, PeruDimensions: 2.6 cm x 2.3 cm x 1.6 cm
2.6 x 2.3 x 1.6 cm. Elegance and superior definition make this one of the finer thumbnails I have seen from this mine. This cluster, with lustrous, gemmy blades up to 1 cm, is quite appealing. Being able to easily tell individual blades apart, and to appreciate their rich color and appearance, really makes the quality aesthetics what they are. Many finds here are of clumped, thick groups of crystals. It is fortunate that pieces this delicate have survived, though not nearly as many as we would like. From the mid-1990s. Ex. Allan Young Collection.

San MartĂn Mine, Chiurucu, Huallanca District, Bolognesi Province, Ancash, PeruDimensions: 2.3 cm x 2.1 cm x 1.6 cm
A cute matrix-less cluster of lustrous slightly translucent bladed terminated rhodonite crystals, the largest measuring to 2.1 cm in size. Measures 2.3 x 2.1 x 1.6 cm overall. No damage and shows nicely all around 360 degrees. Ex Rebecca Steward/Steve Sinotte collection.
1DF-LX3Rhodonite CaMn3Mn[Si5O15]
Morro da Mina mine, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Minas Gerais, BrazilDimensions: 5.4 cm x 3 cm x 1.8 cm
5.4 x 3.0 x 1.8 cm. This is a robust, thick, composite cluster with fat crystals of a pure cherry red color. They are all translucent, and when backlit this positively glows. Even in normal lighting, it is translucent at edges.
M5P-WD2Rhodonite CaMn3Mn[Si5O15]
Morro da Mina mine, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Minas Gerais, BrazilDimensions: 6.6 cm x 4.5 cm x 1.5 cm
6.6 x 4.5 x 1.5 cm. This crystal leaps off of a massive rhodonite base and has a really sharp, gemmy, transparent to translucent termination.

W19-7M8Rhodonite CaMn3Mn[Si5O15]
San MartĂn Mine, Chiurucu, Huallanca District, Bolognesi Province, Ancash, PeruDimensions: 6.8 cm x 4.8 cm x 3 cm
This small prospect or mine has produced some of the world's finest examples for this species. There have been three great "batches" of specimens come onto the mineral market. One in late 1989/early 1990's, one at the end of the 1990's, and one in 2006-2007. The example shown here is from the first, and arguably best, group of rhodonites from this locality. A superb piece consisting of a 6.8 x 4.8 x 3.0 cm grouping of deep pinkish-red lustrous bladed undamaged crystals. The color is excellent. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Prior to that in the collection of notable dealer Dennis Belsher, at one time a specialist in the minerals of Peru. Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 28: 56-57.

CYA-1Y9Rhodonite CaMn3Mn[Si5O15]
San MartĂn Mine, Chiurucu, Huallanca District, Bolognesi Province, Ancash, PeruDimensions: 4.5 cm x 2 cm x 2.4 cm
Gorgeous rich deep pink translucent bladed terminated crystals of rhodonite to 2 cm in length are forming an aesthetic cluster. No damage with good crystal terminations; completely crystallized nicely all around. The crystals show some transparency as well. Measures 4.5 x 2 x 2.4 cm. This is an outstanding beautiful richly colored example for the species! From recent workings at this locality. Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 28: 56-57.
