Cal Day is an Emmy-award-winning reporter for News On 6. A native Oklahoman, Day grew up in Owasso and graduated from the University of Oklahoma.

Day joined the station in 2020. He covers breaking news, local education, crime, and community development, in addition to other daily assignments.

He has covered Oklahoma’s wild weather, including tornadoes, flooding, wildfires, heat waves and winter storms. His favorite part of the job is hitting the road to cover different communities around Green Country and meeting new people.

His feature stories include going inside the walls of the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester to show the efforts to bring back the prison rodeo.

During his time with News On 6, Day has covered the PGA Championship and the Senior PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club. His work outside of the state includes traveling to Kansas City for the sentencing of the Kansas City Chiefs superfan who robbed banks to pay for game tickets and travel.

Day enjoys speaking to high school and college students about the job. He has also moderated mayoral forums as part of his work in the community.

In addition to reporting, Day fills in on the anchor desk on occasion. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing and hoping the Sooners bring home a national championship.

Day is always interested in hearing about what is happening in your community. If you have a tip or story idea, leave your information below.
