Relationships Evolving Possibilities (REP)

Hello Community, REP is about community showing up for community. Becoming a patron helps this work move forward. Your monthly support helps us to organize studios focused on mutual aid and collective care, as well as support responders and dispatchers to move in response to urgency and crisis. REP is an abolitionist tool and strategy built on our shared love of our people, Black liberation and a commitment to ending all forms of oppression and disappearance.&nbsp;REP believes that we have the ability to love, protect, and respond to each other in crisis without relying on systems that were built to destroy, consume, or commodify us. REP is an attempt to interrupt the violence of policing, surveillance, and incarceration by eliminating a key point of entry into our lives: 911.&nbsp;We know that these systems of violence are built on unshakeable foundations of white supremacy and economic racism. And we know that when police enter our communities, they often leave us more traumatized than when the crisis began. There is a better way. Having a well-connected and skilled network of neighbors minimizes the need to reach beyond our own community for crisis support. Many of us already have the skills to assist our neighbors in navigating the minor incidents that arise in our lives - what’s lacking is often connection, coordination, and support. That’s where REP’s Radical Ecosystem Pods and studios come in.<ul><li>REP’s Pods fortify existing networks and support the creation of new networks by improving relationships between neighbors, identifying webs of support that already exist within reach, and reimagining what loving community looks like.</li><li>REP supports the formation of pods through ongoing training called “studios” that support neighbors in building skills in de-escalation, mental health support, and situational awareness.</li></ul>The second project for REP is Revolutionary Emergency Partners.<ul><li>When a crisis or problem can’t be addressed by our pods or our existing support network, we need a trusted resource to call for help. REP’s Revolutionary Emergency Partners provide emergency care to community members via a secure hotline.</li><li>The hotline offers two kinds of assistance: direct support from a Community Resourcer and connection to a Response Team.<ul><li>When a community member calls the hotline number they will be connected to a Community Resourcer trained in mental health first aid and de-escalation.</li><li>Depending on the needs of the caller, the Community Resourcer will either connect the caller to trusted community resources for further support or send a Community Responder or Response Team to the caller’s location to assist in person to provide immediate support.</li></ul></li></ul>REP is not a 1:1 replacement for 911<ul><li>REP’s projects are evolving first steps in building tools for more connected, resourced, and reflective communities that know where to turn for trusted help without fear of violence or coercion.</li></ul>REP is about community showing up for community.
