Frequently Asked Questions
What is PETA’s Action Team?
PETA’s Action Team is a group of animal advocates who want to be active for animals beyond just signing PETA’s action alerts. If you want to play an active role in achieving animal liberation, the Action Team is for you! The types of actions vary by campaign and issue and are always completely voluntary. Some examples include leaving vegan starter kits in Little Free Libraries, handing out leaflets about PETA’s campaigns, joining protests for animals in your area, using PETA’s free stickers to remind readers that every animal is someone, talking to store managers and showing them PETA’s investigations into their store’s suppliers, writing letters to the editors of newspapers and magazines about animal issues, and speaking at city council meetings in favor of animal-friendly ordinances. PETA suggests actions that will help animals, but each Action Team member decides which actions they want to take.
Who’s on the Action Team?
PETA’s Action Team includes tens of thousands of activists from the United States and Canada and around the world who are taking nonviolent action to create a kinder world for all animals. Anyone 18 and up who wants to help animals is encouraged to sign up, regardless of experience level. Under 18 but still want to help animals? Join peta2!
What should I expect as an Action Team member?
When you sign up for PETA’s Action Team, you will have the opportunity to request a free Action Team starter kit, which includes a welcome letter with a list of recommendations for how you can get started helping animals right away as well as stickers, leaflets, a coupon code for a discount on orders from PETA’s website, and a sample of the animal advocacy supplies that PETA offers to Action Team members for free. As an Action Team member, you will be notified about PETA’s campaign updates and events in your area and receive suggestions about actions you can take for animals. If you want to help animals but don’t know where to start or what to do, you’re in the right place. After you sign up for the Action Team, keep an eye on your inbox. We’ll offer you the chance to claim a free T-shirt or tote bag if you send us images of three actions you’ve taken.
Is there a way I can connect with other activists in my community?
Contact us at [email protected]. We’ll let you know if we’re aware of any animal advocacy groups in your area, and we’ll invite you to any upcoming outreach events we know about. The best way to connect with and meet animal advocates in your area is to attend an event.
Do I need to be vegan to join the Action Team?
No. If you want to help animals, we want to help you. Many animal advocates become active for animals used in circuses, at SeaWorld, or in laboratories before changing their eating habits. Anyone who wants to help animals is invited to join PETA’s Action Team, regardless of where they are on their animal rights journey. That said, if you’re interested in helping animals, eating vegan is one of the easiest and most effective ways to do that, and PETA can help you make the switch! You can order a free vegan starter kit for yourself or someone you know by filling out the form here.
