The Post and Courier Foundation is a private foundation that was established in 1952 in Charleston, South Carolina. The Foundation’s mission is to help enhance the quality of life in the Lowcountry community. For over seventy years the foundation has provided support to qualified non-profit, 501-(c) (3) organizations in the Greater Charleston area that do not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, color, sexual orientation, national/ethnic origin or disability.

The Post and Courier Foundation does not accept grant applications from individuals, businesses, political or lobbying organizations.

Grants are provided in five program areas:

  • Civic
  • Conservation/Preservation
  • Cultural/Arts
  • Education
  • Health/Welfare

Only one request per yearly grant cycle may be submitted by any one organization. The Post and Courier Foundation typically receives a larger number of requests for support than is possible to fund.

The Post and Courier Foundation prefers not to fund:

  • Agencies outside the Lowcountry; except in South Carolina where our parent company, Evening Post Publishing, Inc., has businesses (Aiken, Greenville, Columbia).
  • Fundraising events or festivals
  • Good Cheer Organizations
  • Operating deficits
  • Events sponsored by The Post and Courier newspaper.
