Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Tahir Budagov participates in the 14th Session of the Statistical Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Ankara

On 1 October 2025, the 14th Session of the Statistical Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) began its work in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, organized by the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC). Our country is represented at the event by Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The session which will continue until October 3, will review the activities of the Statistical Commission over the past year and the Programme of Action for 2026-2030, will also hold discussion on the role of national statistical offices in enabling data-driven energy transition, the digitalization and modernization of national statistical systems, the monitoring and reporting of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) indicators, as well as other current issues, with participating countries sharing their experiences.

On the second day of the session, Toghrul Ajalov, the Head of the Coordination of Statistical Works and Strategic Planning of the State Statistical Committee, delivered a presentation on the modernization of the National Statistical System through digitalization and providing participants with detailed information the electronic services provided by the Committee, digitalization of the statistical data dissemination process, expansion of the use of administrative data, application of Big data and satellite imagery in official statistics and digitalization of the agricultural census.
