Lizzy Lawrence led STAT's coverage of the FDA. Her stories explore the relationship between politics and science at the FDA, industry influence, and the agency's ability to protect and promote public health. She won a George Polk Award for her FDA coverage, as well as a Polk and other awards for a team investigation into UnitedHealth.
Prior to STAT, Lizzy worked at the tech news site Protocol and the Baltimore Sun. In 2020, she served as editor-in-chief of The Michigan Daily, her school’s independent newspaper.
