ADVOCACY AND OUTREACH PROGRAM MANAGER

Andrea Barron has been the manager of TASSC’s Advocacy and Outreach Program since November 2013. She works closely with survivors to educate policymakers about human rights policies concerning countries where survivors have been tortured, and on issues such as the asylum backlog. Andrea also coordinates the Truth Speakers program, which facilitates survivors speaking at faith-based and human rights organizations. Before joining TASSC, Andrea was the Senior Program Manager for Civic Engagement at The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, where she organized volunteer projects for college students on various social issues, including global women’s rights, Middle East peace, homelessness, environmental issues, and immigrants’ rights. Andrea holds a bachelor’s degree from New York University, a master’s degree in history from Boston College, and has completed doctoral courses in government at the University of Maryland, College Park.
