Deadline extended to submit input for the next Global Forest Goals Report
June 9, 2025
In response to requests from several countries, the UN Forum on Forests Secretariat has extended the deadline for submitting voluntary national reports by 10 days. We thank those who have already submitted their reports and encourage others to finalize and submit theirs via the online platform by 10 July 2025. These reports are essential for assessing progress towards the implementation of the UN Strategic Plan for Forests 2017–2030 and achievement of the Global Forest Goals (GFGs).
Endorsed by ECOSOC resolution 2024/15, the reporting process includes the use of a newly established online platform and a standardized format distributed alongside an Explanatory Note in January 2025. National reports will serve as a primary input to the next Global Forest Goals Report, which will inform future UNFF sessions and global forest policy discussions.
To support Member States, the UNFF Secretariat has held two key capacity-building activities:
- An in-person workshop in Nairobi (18–20 March 2025), jointly organized with FAO
- A virtual webinar on 3 June 2025, providing additional guidance and technical support
Member States are encouraged to finalize and submit their national reports in a timely manner to ensure broad participation in the global assessment of forest progress.
For questions or technical assistance, please contact the UNFF Secretariat.
