Our thoughts are with the agricultural community across the Western Cape as they recover from last week's devastating storms and flooding. 🌧️💔 WWF Conservation Champion farms in areas such as the Breede River Valley and the Cederberg have been particularly hard hit. 😥 We recognise the immense loss and damage faced by farmers, workers and their families. 🙏 Extreme weather events like these are becoming more frequent as the climate crisis intensifies. 🌍⚠️ We must invest in nature now to strengthen resilience on our farms and in our communities. 💪🌿 #climatecrisis #natureloss #floods

South Africa has a real opportunity to show global leadership on biodiversity. As a unique mega‑biodiverse country with a strong track record of biodiversity stewardship, we can demonstrate how a people‑centred, whole‑of‑society approach delivers on the Global Biodiversity Framework – while unlocking socio‑economic benefits. This week, government, civil society and the private sector will shape South Africa’s 3rd National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan (2025–2035). The choices made now will determine whether we halt and reverse nature loss – or fall short of what is already within reach. Our analysis shows that conserving 30% of land, waters and seas is ambitious and achievable. The NGO community stands ready to support government to deliver this ambition. 'So, you work for WWF… do you like wrestling?' 🤦♀️🤼 If we had a Rand for every time we heard that. The reality? It's even better than a wrestling ring. 💪 Every day, we get to show up alongside some of the most passionate, dedicated people we know - scientists 🔬, field teams 🌿, partners 🤝 - all working toward a future where people and nature thrive. 🌍 We'll take that over body slams any day. 🐼😉 #ConservationLife #TeamWWF What's the biggest misconception people have about your job? 👇

Under the sea, under the sea 🌊🎵 That's where most people think Arne spends her days. As a marine conservationist, it's all scuba dives, coral reefs and ocean views, right? 🤿✨🐠 Not quite. 😅 On our WWF SASSI team, Arne's work usually means diving deep 🏊♀️ into reports, data and stakeholder meetings 📊💻📋 — the behind-the-scenes work that helps guide people toward more sustainable seafood choices. 🐟♻️ Less saltwater 🌊. More spreadsheets 📈. Still a pretty cool job if you ask us. 😎🌿 What do people always get wrong about your job? 👇 Or drop a 🐠 if you've ever had your job misunderstood!

Sipping the finest wines 🍷 Strolling through world-famous vineyards ✨🍇 Sounds like the dream job, right? 😍 That's what people think WWF's conservationists in the Cape Winelands do — and honestly, we get it. 😂 The reality looks a little different.😉 As part of our Conservation Champions team, Dwayne spends his days working alongside farmers 🤝 and finding practical ways to farm in harmony with nature. 🌿🐝 It's real work; often behind the scenes. 💪 And it's how South Africa's Winelands - situated in biodiversity hotspots- stay healthy and productive for generations to come. 🌱 Take a peek behind the scenes and tell us: what's one thing people always get wrong about your job? 👇 #ConservationLife #ConservationChampions

Think rhino conservation is all about being in the bush and working with rhinos? 🌿🦏 Think again. 😉 Ursina from our Black Rhino Range Expansion Programme (BRREP) team gives us a glimpse into her life as a black rhino population manager. 🦏📊 Spoiler: There are a lot more spreadsheets 💻📈 than being out in nature. 😅 #ConservationLife #expectationsvsreality

For a lifetime, Sir David Attenborough has helped people see the natural world with wonder, curiosity and respect. His voice and storytelling have shaped how generations understand our natural world and why it matters 💚🌍. WWF has been proud to work alongside Sir David for many decades, united by a shared belief that nature really matters 🌱. Together with our supporters, we’ve shown that positive change is possible. As Sir David turns 100 🎉🎂, we say thank you 🙏 by celebrating the world he has spent a lifetime helping us understand and love — and by continuing our shared responsibility to care for the planet we all call home 🌎 🫶

Our planet needs us to be its Force. A force to be reckoned with. Nature is out of balance. This isn’t science fiction. It’s science fact. But together, we can restore the balance. ✨ May the 4th be with you. Tag someone who protects the planet like a Jedi 🌍 #MayThe4th #ForceOfNature #StarWars

They came in as graduates 🎓✨. They're leaving as environmental leaders 🌿🌍. This Workers' Day 👷♀️, we're celebrating a different kind of workforce: one working for the planet 💚🌱. Last month we celebrated the 2025 cohort of our Environmental Leaders Graduate Internship Programme 🎉: 19 incredible young planet warriors 🌍⚔️ who spent the last 12 months at WWF bringing expertise in GIS mapping 🗺️, climate science 🌡️, environmental law ⚖️, communications 📣, plant taxonomy 🌺 and more. Close to 80% of our interns go on to full-time employment 💼🚀 and we have no doubt this group will be no different. To each of you: the planet is lucky to have you 🌎💚. Congratulations 🎉🥂 We are SO proud! #WorkersDay #Graduation #Greenjobs
