A fellow Twitter User named Sir Duke Devin said, “I want your opinion – is there a contradiction between MAGA beliefs and the teachings of Christ?” As what sometimes happens, my initial plan to give a contrite and amusing answer kinda got outta hand. Felt I might want to copy paste my rambling on the topic below, cuz I’m of the opinion that Twitter (which some still call something else and I refuse to cater to peer pressure) will not last forever. It could disappear any day. So. Welcome to what I will now call my Holy Crap Ramble!
When I was a kid, I was born into the Southern Baptist faith and took it as a given. Didn’t know there were other faiths until I met a gal in my preteens who was a Jehovah’s Witness. That was an eye-opener. Then I learned other Protestant faiths and Catholicism.. and pagan beliefs! And Native American folklore! And The SubGenius Church! Holy crap!
By the time I was in my teens, I observed that some Christians try to follow the teachings of Jesus, but they are like amateur tightrope walkers in a circus who think they’re awesome as they plunge repeatedly to the net. Other Christians play along on Sunday morning, but I saw what sins they were committing on Saturday nights! Holy crap!
I came to the realization by college days that there are as many One True Gods as there are people who believe in them. No two Believers adhere to the same exact faith. So the only god they each believe in is the one that exists only inside their heads! Madness! Holy crap!
So when you ask if I believe in “a contradiction between MAGA beliefs and the teachings of Christ?” I no longer believe! Faith is a fail. Belief is broken. What’s valid is science & reason, and I do not find either the MAGA cult or Abrahamics to be reasonable! HOLY CRAP!
So. To tell a long story short (too late) I’m now an atheist. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
