Tourmaline and cleavelandite (5.3 x 4.3 x 3.3 cm).
Mario Pauwels collection, Joaquim Callén photo.
A highly aesthetic cluster of eight double terminated tourmalines, who are all parallel attached to each other. A ninth shorter tourmaline on the backside is not visible on the photo. All nine tourmalines show a good lustre, and are at both ends transparent in various shades of green. The presence of some cleavelandite blades adds so much more to the overall aesthetics of this specimen. This specimen was mined in the summer of 2011.

L11-PXCTourmaline AD3G6(T6O18)(BO3)3X3Z , Quartz SiO2 , Lepidolite, Albite Na(AlSi3O8)
Pederneira mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, BrazilDimensions: 22 cm x 14 cm x 18.5 cm
"The Flower of Pederneira" is one of the few precious specimens that survived from the first mining phase of the Pederneira Mine (in the 1980s) and is also a high-quality tourmaline from this renowned mining area. The Pederneira Mine in Brazil is famous for producing some of the world's rarest and finest tourmaline specimens. "The Flower of Pederneira" and "The King of Pederneira" come from the same vein, but its shape is more exquisitely delicate, resembling a blooming flower, proudly standing on its branch.

Santa Rosa mine, Itambacuri, Minas Gerais, BrazilDimensions: 45 mm x 25 mm x 15 mm
The color zonation of this touramline is exceptional and very hard to find! It is starting with grass green on the top, changing to white at the middle and ending with steel blue at the bottom! Some small edgewear is present, but this is hardly visible! It needs some light from the back to see the colors, but it does not need to be very strong! It looks beautiful in a showcase with some light from the sides!
