This Summer we had two rounds of swallows that laid eggs on our patio. Bridgette and I loved watching them hatch, grow feathers, be fed by mama and papa birds and then take flight.

Round 1:

The Apartment Maintenance knocked the nest down during a routine vent cleaning and 2 of the 4 birds died on impact. I rescued the other two, that were barely breathing and nestled them into a strawberry container and put them back up on the pillar on our patio.

Within the day, the parents started feeding them again and they regained strength and grew and took flight within 10 days.

Round 2:

Soon after these chicks hatched, we had a heavy rain storm that washed the nest and the baby chicks away.

I was so sad!!!

I love animals and baby chicks are no exception.
