Girl’s Camp 2009 at “Camp Joseph”

This is the Burlington/Essex 2009 Young Women Camp crew!

So pretty. So clean. So ready to get to camp!!!1

Last year’s Girl’s Camp was different and challenging.  This year, it was nothing but perfection the entire time.

1-13

All of our girls got along so well, it really made us smile.  We just adore each one of them!

So, we made these buckets that they decorated.  Maybe you’re wondering why they are holding their pink vinyl cushions instead of sitting on them…are you not?

The infamous Gorilla Glue was a major disappointment.

The girls said the buckets were “more comfortable” than the cushions. Can’t say we tried!

Left to Right:

Gwen aka”Miss Mungeon,” Kathy aka “Khakhi,” Amber aka “Ambie,” Amber Rose and our newest Beehive, Shannon.

Kathy brings this little fan with her to Girl’s Camp every year.  It’s great for keeping her “Kool” and bug free!

1-3

We were so blessed this year to have the ever wonderful Darwin and Theresa cook all the meals at camp.

What an answer to our prayers!

Don’t get me wrong, I love cooking.

I do!

But hauling coolers of food, loaded with ice is a pain.

Not to mention a dutch oven, pans, stoves, propane, matches, bowls, utensils, etc.

You get the picture.

They are awesome chefs!

Some of our meals included portabella mushroom with tomato and mozzarella, Italian wedding soup, chicken stir fry, huevos rancheros, cornmeal pancakes with molasses and spices, breaded eggplant sandwiches, spike cake, and the list goes on.

We were spoiled!

They also cook for Zone Conference for our Mission and everyone just loves what they make.

1-5Cheryl helped the chefs.  She is one of the most charitable woman I have ever met.
EVER!

Her heart is as big as the sky.

I just love and adore her.

She is the person I will miss the most when we move.

WAH!

::: two tears :::

(That’s Theresa in the back.)

Every year, they bring out the plastic and squirt dish soap all over it, then hose it down for the girls to slip on.  It’s always a riot!1-7

I say:

“Make a crazy face!”

This is what I get:1-9

Shannon, in white, did NOT want to get out of the pond.  She loved it!  1-10Again

“Make a crazy face girls!”

What’s with the tongues!? HA HA HA.  These kids are so great!1-14Ambie under the collapsed tent

The HYRUM tree, named after Hyrum Smith.

1-12

It’s quite a site!

The two trees are connected, like a ladder.

1-11

These girl’s were from another ward, but they took time to learn how to handle a bow and arrow. I wanted to take their picture, they were  just adorable!

1-4

This is Camp Joseph the morning we left:

1-15There was rain. There was shine.

There were testimonies shared about Christ and Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon.

My heart was touched by all the thoughtfulness I saw around me, all week.

Secret acts of service were witnessed.

There were others who were so gracious and thankful for everything.

There were memories made that will never be forgotten!

Thank you, Kathy, Gwen, Ambie, Shannon and Amber.

We love you and we’ll miss you next year!
