Bye Maisie

Bob here

Monkey is rather upset. His friend Maisie who was in love with him has gone over the bridge. Very sad. she had very bad arthritis and had to have a lot of painkillers every day. We are pleased she is no longer in pain but do miss her.

I've not been out taking human for wee plods still. Her hand has never become ok,. Odd as it was her wrist she broke, that bit has healed ok.She keeps saying we will do a wee plod but it never happens. I've not forgotten how to carry humans though.

Last week human, The Stallion and Grandfoal Amber along with mini wolf went away. I do mis them but the good bit it Monkey and I get lots and lots extra grass to eat.

Zoe had to have a couple of teeth removed. It's helped her to eat a lot. Human was getting worried because she wasn't eating hay or grass only very expensive porridge. She's now eating hay and grass as well as her porridge. Human is very pleased about that.

Weather has been rather wet of late. Thankgoodness the grass is growing. We were thinking we were going to starve over winter. Looks like we might survive another winter.

8 Whole Years

 Bob here,

Can you believe this photo of me and Grandfoal Amber was taken 8 yes EIGHT years ago?  It was taken on the day human and Grandfoal Amber came to see me to ask me if Id like to go nd live with them.

Human promised it would be the last time I would ever move home. Sounded like a good plan so I thought why not give it a go.

I think I made a reasonably good choice although human is rather rude sometimes and calls me Bob the Nob. I prefer Bob the Beautiful.  The Stallion and I have bonded over diy projects. I like to keep my eye on what he is doing to make sure it's done right.

In other news humans wrist is still not right. Her hand/wrist is still very swollen, it's a different colour to her other hand, still very painful and she has very limited movement. So she's been back to the horsepitsl and the bone has healed ok so she's off for a fancy scan to see if they can identify what is going on as well as seeing the physio. She's also going for a bone density scan becasue she is old and old ladies sometimes have issues with their bones. The good news is we still get to see The Stallion every day.

Explosion

 Bob here.

Oh the drama. Yesterday there was an explosion in our field. Loud bang, lots of sparks like fireworks. Scared the life out of all of us. We obviously got the hell as far away as possible as quick as possible. It didn't follow us so we settled down to eat.

A kind passerby phoned human, so human and The Stallion hot hoofed it over to check on us. It was something to do with the power lines that go across our field. There was a dead squirrel hanging in the tree next to the pole. Not sure if that caused the problem or was just collateral damage.

Another human who lives in the stable at the top of our field came to check on us. she heard the bang and heard us charging about. We were fine once we realised it wasn't going to chase us.

The Stallion wasn't impressed. He had been got out of bed to come over after only about 4hrs sleep. Human is still struggling with her wrist and still can't drive.

Sunshine

 Zoe here.

Human is still out of action.  The Stallion is being great.  We all came in with The Stallions help for a pedicure.  I came in first.  Bob got his knickers in a twist, charging about shouting his head off. No he wasn't left alone,  Monkey was still with him.  What an idiot.  It's quite nice though that he misses me that much.

I've wintered well. Not lost too much weight. Looking pretty good I think.

The weather has been lovely. Very warm with lots of sunshine. So nice to have the sun on our backs. Warm means grass growing. Yum.

Monkey and I have had our rugs removed. I am losing my winter fluff. The birds love winter fluff to line their nests.

Human has been back to the human horspital today. Her wrist isn't healing well. She's had more xrays and has to go back in 6 weeks to check. Not good.

Getting Better

 Bob here,

Things are going ok here for us. The Stallion is doing a great job of seeing to our needs. Luckily Tom Hoofy had been to trim our hooves the day before human got injured.

Zoe has an injury to her eye. It's healing nicely though.

Human comes with The Stallion every day. They have been making a great team. Human gives Zoe her bucket of food. She puts the hay out for us that The Stallion brings to the field for us. She tops up all the water buckets. Meanwhile The Stallion clears our droppings from the field, human can't use the barrow.. They finish their jobs about the same time.

Humans wrist is starting to get better not quite as painful now as it was. We will have her back in no time. Although I do have to wonder if she might manage to need The Stallion until the mud has gone. Hmm

Human is Broken

 Bob here,

oh no human is broken. And before you ask no it wasn't anything to do with me.

Human slipped on the ice and has broken her wrist. She says every cloud has a silver lining as The Stallion is now doing all the jobs and looking after us.

Hurrah We Have Grass

 Bob here

Winter is upon us. Human has saved part of the field so we have lots of grass. We get hay as well but much prefer grass.

The Stallion filmed us hurtling around when we first got to go on the long grass. But his filing system is .... well human says it's 'creative' by which she means completely messed up so she can't find the film of us. I obviously look stunning.

So this is what we did when human arrived at the field before we moved over. Of course it's her we are so pleased to see, nothing to do with the hay and carrots she brings.

It's very tiring eating all that grass every day. Zoe and Monkey are both ok. Thats me nearest the camera. Zoe is on guard duty.

We have had some very sad news. The lovely man who owns the land we live on has died. Very sudden and unexpected. He was a super man who loved all animals. We will miss him dreadfully.

No idea if we will have to move home. I do hope not I don't like change.

I rarely get to take human out for wee plods any more. She has arthritis in her hip and it hurts her to ride. Plus she can't get off. Very amusing to see her trying to get off though but don't tell her I said that.
