The Bridgewater Place building is in the centre of Leeds

This 32-storey high building in Leeds is dwarfed only by the Emley Moor TV mast which stands at 330m (1083ft).

The building has taken seven years to construct from planning to completion and includes luxury apartments, office space, restaurants and shops.

A nine-storey high glass atrium will flood the building with natural light.

About 300 guests and civic dignitaries will be at the ceremony to mark the end of the construction phase.

The first residents and office workers should be in the building by the late summer.

Bridgewater Place towers above the city centre skyline and offers views of the Yorkshire landscape stretching for almost 25 miles.

At 400,000 sq ft the building is Yorkshire's largest single structure venue for commercial, leisure and residential use.

In total the project has 230,000 sq ft of office accommodation, 10,000 sq ft of leisure and retail space, 200 luxury apartments and underground parking for about 400 vehicles.

Ian Barraclough of joint developers St James Securities said: "The Impressive Bridgewater Place building reinforces the city's plans for the expansion of the city through regeneration of the riverside and Holbeck."

Chris Gilman, a director of Landmark Development Projects who were also involved in the project added: "It is an iconic landmark for the city and with more than 3,000 people occupying the building everyday it will help to unlock the potential of Holbeck Urban Village."
