This is a quick guide for how to reflash Fyme OS on Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition. Flyme is based on Android with some redesign along with extras. It doesn't ship with Google apps, but those are easily installable.

You can flash Flyme 5.1.12G or 6.1.0G (released recently), both based on Android 5.1. To see what's new in Flyme 6, check out THIS page. Using the steps below, you should receive future Flyme OS updates automatically, so there's no need to reflash anything manually for any OS updates.

The Ubuntu Touch Emulator package from the Phablet Tools PPA now has x86 support. The ARM instances are very slow but now by using the Phablet Tools PPA, you can create x86 Ubuntu Touch instances which should be much much faster. 

Yesterday I wrote about installing Ubuntu Touch Emulator (ARM) in Ubuntu, but as you've probably noticed from the video or from your own experience if you've installed it, the ARM emulator is very slow.

A while back, Canonical released an experimental Ubuntu Touch emulator running Unity 8 and Mir. Back then, there were a few bugs, including a nasty one on 64bit that could break the system and since they were fixed, I though I'd write an article on how to properly install and use the Ubuntu Touch Emulator in Ubuntu 14.04, 13.10 and 12.04.

A few days ago we had an article about a new Unity Revamped PPA that adds some tweaks to Ubuntu 12.04, among which there were some nice Ubuntu Touch-style assets for the Unity Launcher. According to a recent announcement, Ubuntu will use its own Display Server called Mir, replacing X Window server. The reason Ubuntu will use its own display server is that "none of the existing solutions would allow us to implement our vision without taking major compromises which would come at the cost of user experience and quality" and obviously, to achieve full "convergence", a hot topic recently that has caused quite a bit of controversy.
