TQSolutions is currently working with a customer in the middle east tasked with helping them to 're-imagine HR'. As part of our engagement we have been aggregating global thought leadership on the 'future mission and vision of HR' in an AI era. We have targeted reputable people and companies in our research (Dave Ulrich, Dart Lindsley, Gartner, MIT, HBR etc). We collated over 20 recent research papers and have used AI to aggregate and theme for commonalities or clusters of opinion which highlight the most often cited focus and change areas for HR. These six themes have emerged (not in rank order of importance). There are some obvious and some less obvious focus areas. #3 The Product Manager Mindset is really worth exploring more, we conducted some additional research on this and there are several examples of businesses on this journey, it makes so much sense. #5 HR & Tech Convergence (think Moderna in the extreme) - I can see a new function emerging, that of 'Workforce' which is responsible for both the digital and human workforce (strategy, design, engagement, deployment, performance, retirement etc). Finally #3 Data Driven HR - As Sandra Loughlin, PhD said at a recent event "Stop buying new Tech, HR, and start buying or enhancing your data". In the AI era, data is the fuel to the organisation and you need an abundance of it for your work and workforce. What do people think? Does this feel right? In this pair of Podcasts, we welcome Dr Maria Katsarou-Makin. She is the founder of the Leadership Psychology Institute where she brings together her expertise in leadership theory with 20 years of practical experience working with leaders and leadership teams. Just read an interesting article in Human Resource Management Journal: “HR Have the Final ‘No’” by Glaister et al. It explores how HR professionals influence line managers’ decisions by advising, persuading and, when needed, overruling.
