How to export Favorites from Edge

I made some set up changes to Edge and now some things don't work as I expected. I would like to do a reset back to the defaults and start again.

However, I am afraid of losing my Favorites and would like to export them first so I can retrieve them.

Everywhere I have searched it indicates to go to Import and then select Export. I can find the Import OK but for the life of me I cannot find how to Export the Favorites so it will be greatly appreciated if someone can please provide me with step by step guidelines to direct me to Export Favorites.

Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is William. I'm a Windows technical expert. I'll be happy to help you out today.

Enter the following into the address bar edge://favorites/. Select the ellipses (3 dots) on the right-top > Export Favorites. See attached image for example.

Alternatively, you can just copy the bookmarks file into a secure location and restore later. It can be found as bookmarks file in %localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default.

Another method is to sync your favorites with our Microsoft account. In address bar paste edge://settings/profiles/sync and select options for Favorites then Confirm.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am amazed that I was not able to find that with a search on microsoft.com site.

For future reference to others who might find this post.

The Favorites are not lost with the Reset.

It is the 3 dots at top right of the displayed data (not the three dots at far top right of the Edge window).

Correct, even uninstalling the new Edge Chromium (or even Chrome for that matter), will not delete the User Data folder. Normally, I suggest deleting that after uninstalling Edge or Chrome in instances where a typical reinstall failed to fix the original issue.
