The Alpine Convention is leading the way for sustainable life in the Alps.
Info
The Alps are a fascinating and spectacular mountain range spanning eight countries: Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Slovenia, and Switzerland. The challenges facing this unique mountain range are often cross-border in nature, and can be solved best through cooperation. Recognising this, the eight Alpine countries, together with the European Union, formed the Alpine Convention to address these challenges together. The Alpine Convention is leading the way for sustainable life in the Alps and is a pioneer of its kind as the first international treaty aimed at the sustainable development and protection of a cross-border mountain range.

🔎 "By looking through a spatial lens, our Working Group takes a cross-cutting view on the development of the Alps. We strive to support a sustainable development of the Alpine arc by contributing to an efficient, balanced usage of the limited space that is available," says Josiane Meier, who is Chair of the Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development (SPSD) Working Group for Germany. ⛰️↔️ The Alpine Convention's SPSD Working Group was set up in 2020 to support cross-border and cross-sectoral cooperation regarding spatial development in the Alps, where space is a particularly limited resource and subject to a variety of different usage demands. ℹ️ Find out more about the group's objectives and activities: https://loom.ly/w_CY1ak #AlpineConvention #SpatialPlanning #SustainableDevelopment
