Professor Nikos Thomaidis from the University of Athens came to us with a challenge: To detect and identify microplastic particles in fish samples with our BRAVE devices 🐟 >>> 📈 After only simple alkaline digestion procedures and just 10 minutes of sample preparation, BRAVE Analytics‘ combined OF2i®-#Raman device and large particle detector delivered these results. #microplastics #LPC #MicroplasticAnalysis #MicroplasticsResearch

PAT sensors and lab devices for in-flow particle analytics using OF2i®, Raman, SLS and large particle detection
Info
It all started with a BRAVE idea – to achieve continuous (nano)particle sizing on a single-particle basis, for the lab and online during production. This idea became BRAVE Analytics’ patented OF2i® technology and is now in use measuring particles in a range from 50 nm to 5 µm (sample-dependent). But it didn't stop there: add an optional Raman module to identify particles directly in liquids with no or minimal sample preparation. This device detects nanoparticles (<1 µm) and microplastics (1 µm to 50 µm) continuously and directly in-flow. Or how about aggregation monitoring with a module using static light scattering, covering the size range 5 nm to 50 nm (sample-dependent)? For micron-sized particles we have an in-flow large particle detector (2 µm to 80 µm size range) which is ideal for PFAT5 evaluation and detecting contamination. Learn more about our BRAVE new technology on our website and stay tuned for new developments, including more automation options.

A new publication! 🎉 Take a look at this mini review in Nano Letters: "Optofluidic Force Induction: A Workbench for Nanoparticle Characterization and Material Analytics" which describes the many versatile ways of using the #OF2i® method to analyze particles: - Sizing - PSD - Concentration - Raman - Shape 🌟 Congratulations to the authors: Marko Simic, Christian Neuper, Raphael Hauer, Karin Grießmair, Christian HILL and Ulrich Hohenester The article is published on the Nano Letters website: https://lnkd.in/dExH4nap 📋 Description of the figure shown: Working principle of the OF2i® scheme. (a) Nanoparticles suspended in a liquid are continuously pumped through a microfluidic channelalongside a weakly focused vortex beam. The purpose of the laser beam is 3-fold: First, through optical forces in radial direction (b, left), nanoparticles sufficiently close to the intensity maxima become trapped in transverse direction (dashed line). Second, the optical forces in the laser propagation direction (b, right) push the particles and lead to velocity changes depending on size, shape, and material properties. Third, the light scattered off the particles is detected in the Side Image, which allows monitoring of the velocity changes through the Rayleigh scattering signal as well as analysis of Raman scattering. (c) Radiation pattern of a single particle, where the sideward-scattered light is mainly composed of the SLS-and Raman signals. Large particles additionally scatter light in the forward direction, resulting in a LDS-signal or causing obscuration, which is recorded through the Forward Image. #continuousmanufacturing #drugdevelopment #PAT #microplastics

Impressive work from the BRAVE team! As CEO, I see immense potential in MikroNanoPlastics Analytics — especially when complex environmental samples like these can be analyzed so efficiently. Our OF2i®-Raman setup, combined with large particle detection, provides fast and detailed insight that can significantly advance our understanding of micro- and nanoplastic contamination. Excited about the possibilities this opens up — and looking forward to deeper collaboration with Professor Thomaidis and his team. #MicroplasticAnalysis #EnvironmentalTech #OF2i #BRAVEAnalytics #Innovation
Recording microplastic particles and their distribution in fish samples with just 10 minutes sample preparation. Looking back on a great visit from Professor Nikolaos S. Thomaidis from the University of Athens. The challenge was to analyze fish samples and clearly identify #microplastics using only simple alkaline digestion procedures and just 10 minutes of sample preparation. BRAVE Analytics‘ combined OF2i®-Raman device and large particle detector delivered the results. Thank you Nikos – we look forward to a closer collaboration on microplastics analysis. #LPC #MicroplasticAnalysis #MicroplasticsResearch

We are proud to announce our publication "Unified Simulation Platform for Optical Tweezers and Optofluidic Force Induction" in ACS Photonics 🎉 See the comments for a link directly to the paper. As the authors were here together, we also took the opportunity to celebrate their publication in Nanophotonics “Imaging the scattered light of a nanoparticle through a cylindrical capillary” from last year. We don’t get together often enough but now the weather 🌝 is lovely on the BRAVE balcony.
