ACADEMIC WORK PAR EXCELLENCE Congratulations to our former colleague Norbert Hohenauer! He was awarded with the "Förderungspreis für Chemie" on October 17, 2025, during the general assembly of the GÖCH - Österreichische Chemische Gesellschaft, donated by the Fachverband der Chemischen Industrie Österreichs (FCIO). His academic work entitled “Chemical Recycling for Polyhydroxybutyrate” is thus one of the four best thesis submitted in the field of chemistry. He received the award from President Peter Gaertner during a ceremony at the Universität Wien. Norbert can be very proud of his achievement and his research activities. After all, he has already received an award for his (this) master's thesis in the past – namely the #CHASEIndustryAward. This prize, judged by a jury of industry experts from the CHASE network, recognizes the best thesis written in the context of CHASE projects. CREATING DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION Thanks to UAR - Upper Austrian Research GmbH for inviting us to take part at the Zukunft.Digitalisierung at the Softwarepark Hagenberg last week. CONFERENCE REVIEW WITH AN INTRODUCTION Senior Research Scientist #DominikWielend was at the #ESBP2025 in Lisbon at the beginning of October. He represented #CHASE with a talk on „From Breakdown to Biocycle: Modeling PHB depolymerization for circular use by introducing novel probability function“ within the EFRE project Biocycle-UA II. 👉 Dominik, since June our new colleague in Area 3 (Circular Process Streams), is working on the BioCycle-UA II project, focusing primarily on the chemical recycling of biopolymers. His responsibilities include planning and implementing experimental approaches and supervising the project. 👉 BioCycle-UA II is supported by the federal government of Upper Austria (Land Oberösterreich) and the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE Österreich) in the framework of the EU-program IBW/EFRE & JTF (Just Transition Fund) 2021-2027. CHASING TALENTS IN WELS We attended the FH Karrieremesse at the Fachhochschule Oberösterreich (Campus Wels) again this year. Together with UAR - Upper Austrian Research GmbH and other members of the #UARInnovationNetwork (RECENDT GmbH - Research Center for Non-Destructive Testing, K1-MET GmbH, Silicon Austria Labs and Wood K plus - Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH), this event once again offered us the perfect opportunity to present ourselves as an attractive employer to students and future graduates in a professional setting. The event was very well frequented and we were able to welcome numerous students from the fields of technology and applied natural sciences.
