Shaping the future for Perth’s south-east 🚧 We’ve officially turned the sod on the Tonkin Highway Extension and Thomas Road Upgrade Project, marking the start of major construction works. The project will extend the Tonkin Highway by 14 kilometres from Thomas Road to South Western Highway and duplicate 4.5 kilometres of Thomas Road, improving safety, travel efficiency and connectivity for local communities. The upgrade is being delivered by the Tonkin Extension Alliance, made up of BMD, Georgiou, Civcon Civil and Project Management, BG&E and GHD in partnership with Main Roads Western Australia. In the coming months, activity will ramp up as we prepare key areas of the corridor for bulk earthworks and road construction, establishing access tracks and haulage routes to minimise disruption on local roads. #BMD #TonkinHighwayExtension #MainRoadsWA #PoweringFutures #CreatingLegacies

At BMD, powering futures and creating legacies starts with inspiring the next generation to explore career pathways within civil construction. Last week, our team visited Wynnum State High School in Brisbane’s Bayside to speak with Year 11 students. With our Founder and Chairman Mick Power AM being an alumnus of the school, it was a meaningful opportunity to share BMD’s story, our long-standing connection to the Wynnum community and the diverse opportunities available across our business. Treasury Analyst Harriet spoke to students about how BMD’s Graduate Program equipped her with the confidence and technical skills to build her career after leaving university. Construction Manager Gary, also a Wynnum SHS graduate, shared his journey from starting as a labourer at 15 to now leading major projects across Australia. Partnerships like this reflect BMD’s ongoing commitment to investing in people and communities, engaging with young people who may shape the future of our industry. #PoweringFutures #CreatingLegacies #TeamBMD #Proudpathways #CommunityEngagement #CivilConstruction #STEMCareers
