💎 Moving diamond from Carats to Qubits! A newly released report by DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) highlights the momentum behind lab grown diamond as both creative medium and strategic material. “Innovation cycles in semiconductors, #quantum technologies, and energy systems strongly suggest that lab-grown diamonds are poised to shift from niche adoption to mainstream high-tech relevance over the next decade.” 💎 For quantum, the takeaway is clear: devices built around an integrated diamond quantum chip can operate at room temperature and be integrated into standard electronics and data center workflows; delivering significant value for quantum sensing and computing. A few practical enablers stand out if we want to turn that potential into products at scale: ▫️ Scaling needs material quality, reproducibility, and resilient supply chains, not only lab breakthroughs. ▫️ Industry-wide standards are important to build confidence. ▫️ Near term opportunity is in sensing, which can reach customers sooner than full compute stacks. 💎 Earlier this month, our colleague Bianca Sawyer joined leaders from Fujitsu and Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre to discuss the intersection of AI, data centres, and clean energy at the 2025 Australia-Japan Innovation Alliance Forum in Perth. As demand for AI continues to surge, balancing data centre capability and energy efficiency will be essential. Bianca highlighted how deploying QB’s compact, diamond-based QPUs directly into standard data centre infrastructure is paving the way for scalable and tightly integrated classical-#quantum hybrid computer systems that could deliver higher performance per watt, helping reduce the energy demand of AI workloads.
