📣 This week, we would like to introduce the second recipient of Cancer Council Queensland's Next Generation Cancer Research Fellowship for 2025-2029 - Dr Melanie Plinsinga from Griffith University.👏   This fellowship will enable Dr Plinsinga to conduct research focused on improving the identification, prevention, and management of chronic conditions such as lymphoedema and cancer-related pain in cancer survivors. It’s great to see the Australian Cancer Atlas 📊🗺️being used to inform and empower communities. 👏💪 Recently, Joan Pease MP discovered the Australia Cancer Atlas and was alarmed by the high melanoma 🌞 rates in her Bayside electorate. 🎗️ Timely treatment saves lives! 📢 This Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🩷 is a powerful reminder that timely treatment can save lives. 📄Our 2023 study in the Medical Journal of Australia - Treatment intervals and survival for women diagnosed with early breast cancer in Queensland: the Breast Cancer Outcomes Study, a population‐based cohort study, found that women with breast cancer who experienced at least one treatment delay beyond recommended guidelines had a 43% higher risk of breast cancer death compared to those treated within recommended timeframes.
