The Veteran Community Business Chamber (VCBC) is the leading organisation for supporting entrepreneurship and small businesses in the military community. - Education: To bridge the gap between military skills and business acumen through an education program that leverages existing providers and internal expertise. Delivered through digital and physical workshops and through the development of an online library.

- Community: Provide a framework so every member of the community can share their experiences, learn and support each other. We are a billion dollar industry already, let’s start looking within our community to see how we can support each other.

- Identification: A formal process of branding as a veteran community-owned business and supporters so a conscious choice can be made to ‘shop veteran’.

- Digital Transformation: Ensuring every business within the community has a digital footprint which enhances the brand, lead generation, and sales process. As a Service Ambassador to Soldier On, my aim is to raise community awareness of the difficulties faced by many veterans and to assist veterans and their families who have been impacted by their service. Further, I hope to grow the Defence Industry community’s awareness of veteran employment and establish a network of organisations willing to assist employing veterans as a collective.

The Career Transition Mentoring Program is a UNSW Canberra Alumni & Engagement led initiative that aims to support UNSW alumni making the transition from the military to the civilian workforce by connecting them with established alumni who have successfully made the transition.

The main focus of the Career Transition Mentoring Group is to create a platform through which alumni making the difficult transition from the military to the civilian workforce can seek support and advice, however, it also acts as a networking hub for all UNSW Canberra alumni who are current or former members of defence.

employment opportunities for veterans by raising awareness across industry of the skills and
experience that veterans can bring to the civilian workplace.

The Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) provides advice to Government from an industry
perspective as required on:

- practical measures to embed veteran employment strategies into the recruitment practices

employment opportunities for veterans by raising awareness across industry of the skills and
experience that veterans can bring to the civilian workplace.

and workforce policies of Australian business, including methods to monitor recruitment and
long term retention rates of veterans in the civilian workforce

- creative solutions to provide greater employment opportunities for veterans by raising the
awareness of employers about the value of employing veterans

- assistance that would benefit veterans who are interested in becoming, or have recently
commenced as, a business owner or entrepreneur

- barriers to the successful employment of veterans and strategies to address those barriers

- implementation of initiatives to support veterans’ employment, such as the Prime Minister’s
Veterans’ Employment Awards and the Enhanced Employment Support for Veterans – Grants
Program

- options to encourage business to employ the partners of veterans, including serving Australian

I volunteered as Head Coach for one of the Eastlake Football Club Junior AFL teams. It was my pleasure to mentor and coach this specific team starting from AusKick in 2013 and supporting them all the way through to U13s.
